Should I be here??? :(

I haven't Ov'd in almost 10 weeks.... my cycles keep getting longer and longer :wall:

I went off the pill last Sept, had first AF in Jan and fell PG in Feb. Thought I was so lucky, and then we lost our little jelly bean

I am so new to this section and know nothing about seeking help. Are there hormonal treatments which can help you ovulate more regularly?

Thanks

Hi

Have you been to your GP?

When i 1st started TTC i went to my doctor. I have really irregular periods and can sometimes go 6 months without a period. He will initiate all the tests you need to have. The usual treatment if you're not ovulating is clomid, but you usually have to have had all the tests done before this is prescribed.

I did try Agnus castus which is a herbal treatment. I dont know whether it worked or not, but i suddenly ovulated on day 100 of my cycle after taking it for a week. It may have been a coincidence, i dont know, but it may be worth a try. They usually say it can take up to 3 months to fully get in your system.

But i think that you really need to see your GP about having such long cycles.

Good luck

After my miscarriage my periods were irregular and looking back I def think I wasn't ovulating. I read up on the internet (can be dangerous I know) about dietary supplements to help with irregular periods. I figured if I could boost my body then maybe it would kick start things back to normal.

I started off taking a single magnesium supplement which is supposed to help with stress (amongst other things), and as stress can change when you ovulate I figured it couldn't hurt. I was planning on starting on other supplements when to my surprise I ovulated and had my BFP soon after.

Personally while I know for some people there are more fundamental reasons for erratic periods I tried to look to my own health first before going to the docs. I figure so long as you're not taking high doses and follow the RDAs then it can't do any harm.

Thanks for your responses girls.
I have been to my GP but she said any referral to a gynae would be bounced back unless you have been trying for 2 years!!! WHAT. I am not sure she is very sympathetic or understanding.
So you can have AF without ovulating then?

She is wrong. The NHS guidelines state that after 1 year you should be referred. However if you are over 35(i think), or there is a known problem, then 6 months. I was refered straight away for investigations for my irregular periods. They couldn't find any explanation so then told me to come back when it had been a year. As you are not having periods, then this is a reason why you wont be able to conceive so you should get an earlier referal. You can find a copy of the guidelines on the NHS website. I printed it out in case i had any bother with the doctors, i wanted to make sure i knew what i was talking about!!

Hmmm, she said given I fell PG in Feb, they would not see it as a problem as I CAN fall PG. Thinking about it though, that is takign a very narrow view on what warrants a referral for fertility problems.

Should I jsut got to a fmaily planning clinic? I was PG from Feb - early Apr this year and I think my GP will say it's just my body gettting back to regular cycles - although they have always been long and irregular.

Hmmmmmm
