Angelsounds Doppler

Just bought one of these on eBay and I know this is going to sound like a stupid question, but.... do I just put a bit of gel on and rub the thing around on my tummy where I think the heart will be? How do I know what side to do it on?

hey allycat

put the gel on your bump and move the doppler round slowly!! The heatbeat will be quite fast and you will know its baby as soon as your hear it, have the sound on max,I have one of these and love it!!

Thanks for the tips...I'll just put the gel on and see how I go...just worried I'll find my own heartbeat and get all excited lol! Apparently with the Angel Sounds one you can record it as an MP3 as well, yay! xxx

thought id just say for the first 2 days i was listening to my own opps put it on one day and just happend to be right on baby, thats how i knew id been listening to the wrong one. Didn't i feel like a muppet

Put the Doppler near your own heart first that way you know what is you and what is baby. Baby is alot faster and sounds more like a fast knocking noise, that's what my midwife said to me and listening for knocking stops you confusing the whooshing of he placenta with the babies HB.

Your own heart beat will be a woosh...woosh...woosh or something in a really steady motion and baby's heartbeat will be thud,thud,thud,thud,thud really quicky!

I think it helps if your lying down relaxed, when you hear the heartbeat on your doppler, see if it matches the movements your body makes when your own heart beats, like your body sort of moves a little to your heartbeat, if it matches then it's yours but baby's heartbeat will be so much faster and unmistakable and at 25 weeks you should find it no problem, I have been listening to baby from about 11 weeks or so.

I got one of these a few weeks ago, arrived to work and straight away opened it up, gel and all, and slapped it on my belly, didn't care who was gona walk in - heard it straight away - was smashing - and who says when u turn 30 ur a grown up i was like a child with a new toy -
Have only used it once since though, I try not to get addicted to it -as apparently the mid wife doesn't like u having it - think they don't like u annoying wee bambino - i didn't tell her i had one either what she doesn't know and all that . . . . .
- oooh how has ur renovating been going then - did ur OH get his hands dirty

I think they don't like us using them so we don't ring them at 3am saying we can't find the babies heartbeat and causing ourselves unecessary worry. I use mine to make me feel better but I just havn't told them I have one!
