Sami, I have been on Amitryptiline, and they are strong stuff, and addictive, they made me feel quite spaced out. Not a nice feeling but I needed them at the time.

I hope you are ok.x

I was on these for over a year before I had Damien, and suffered no problems with them, I came off them when I was pregnant (as research suggests babies exposed to them show withdrawal symptoms after birth), and hasve been back on them for a month now. But recenty I have been having some serious night terrors and often wake up screaming, or Mark has to wake me up. I feel like a kid coz I sit there crying, last night was so bad I didn't want to go back to sleep (it was 4am). I lasted till 5:30am when I fell asleep and had another nightmare :( Mark said I was shouting and screaming again and he had to wake me again.

I'm terrified that this is because of the tablets and just wondered if anyone has experienced the same? I'm turning into a wreck from broken sleep and being too scared to fall asleep. I'm seeing GP tomorrow.

I don't know which one (if either) are causing these night terrors, but I never had them before. Also, the Amitriptyline is making me feel spaced out too, I am constantly tired and need at least 10 hours sleep to face the day, I am often in bed till 11am with Damien. I feel like I am just existing, not living.

I have been on them too but not for depression. They gave me halucinations (sp) and night terrors so I stopped taking them :?

The Citalopram is for depression, as is Amitriptyline, but this also is because I have M.E and because I find it hard to sleep. I do sleep better and heavier, but now have this too.

Cheers for the replies girls, I know it's not always easy to say you are on them too.

Hi Sami,

My OH is on Amitriptyline, also for M.E. His doctor (who is also an M.E. sufferer, put him on these. She's a M.E expert apparently)

He's had no side effects from them. He takes 75mg.

Sorry you're feeling bad with them, hope the docs are able to sort you out.
