To do glossing. The state of my skirting boards are shocking and I reeally want to do them. Normally I'd get OH to but he's working really long hours atm so doesn't have the time.
What do you reckon yay or nay?

i looked this up a few months back and it was a no im afraid! xx

I asked this and bought a fume mask (b&q) and well ventilated and all fine

I read as long as the room was very well ventilated then its ok, and if youre painting anywhere the baby is going to be give plenty of time for the smell to go x

Well the main place that is bothering is my stairs and landing which has no windows :/. But maybe if I opened all upstairs windows and wore one of those mask thingies?? X

haha got to love nesting! is there nothing else you can do? sort out clothes?? the room??

i think its a bit of a big job for how far along you are x with all the sanding and undercoating then glossing it will take you a fair while to do, OH just done our hall stairs and landing looks lovely but took ages x x

Oh god there's loads I could do but once something bothers me thats it, it'll bug me. I might see if I can talk to my step dad nicely see if he can do it over the weekend lol

Ooops, I've just glossed the skirting boards in our new conservatory a couple of weeks ago. I didn't even think about whether this would be a problem or not, it needed doing and I just got on with it.

I did some glossing a few weeks ago and used dulux one coat which isn't very smelly or toxic iykwim with doors and windows open. I would do it now if I could bend down without feeling like I would snap babies leg/foot which nestles under my ribcage?!

We've just glossed - used a low voc gloss from crown (sulus o one too, but crown was a fiver cheaper!) - didn't smell at all and dried much quicker than the real deal stuff. :)

Sorry - meant dulux do one too - but a fiver more expensive! X

we where in the middle of renovating a house when i found out i was pregnant so i have done tonnes of painting, glossing etc, as long as its well ventilated you should be fine, if you start to feel at all dizzy stop and go outside for some fresh air and take a brake.
Then again i was plumbing until last week so was lifting radiators and working with all sorts of solvents i asked to doctor at the beginning he said that 'i wouldn't be able to lift anything that was too heavy' and i can lift a lot for a girl lol, He also said that as long as the room i worked with solvents in was well ventilated i was fine. Just don't do too much xx

I literally finished painting the bathroom and laying lino about an hour ago, did think half way through that it might not be a great idea especially as I started having braxton hicks but the room was well ventilated

Buy a fume mask (not dust) mine was £4 (ish) from b&q and does the job, my husband has worked with hazardous chemicals for years as a sculptor and said they are fab and wouldn't let me do any without it. Ventilation too, front and back door open if you have both to get a through draft :)

I asked about painting when we were starting to decorate bubs' room, and mw said that water based paint - silk/matt etc was fine if u keep the space well ventilated, but to stay away from Gloss.
