When does baby start cutting down feeds? I know milk is main nutrition up till 1 year.

What I'm trying to figure out is if I will be able to continue expressing?

i.e. if at some point baby only has 3-4 feeds a day - I'm only expressing 3-4 times a day? (honestly don't know if it works like this)

I've never set myself a deadline for expressing, I just know I'm not ready to stop (unless the dietician tells me otherwise)

I've always had a 6 month goal in the foggy future that I wanted to reach. Aaron is 5 months now and I can't imagine giving up in a month?

How is your supply affected when you start going longer between feeds etc?

Sorry lots of stupid questions?

Also, I've always wondered - for those of you who have babies that sleep through the night - do you get up to express? I was told I have to get up to express through the night - but Aaron sleeps through so it makes me grumpy that I don't get to take advantage of that

Feasible!!! That's the bloody word I was thinking of! :rotfl:

So in short is it feasible for me to continue expressing after 6 months do you think?

Please excuse any typos from my fat fingers!
Tapatalk madness!

Hey hun, Max is 8 months old and has recently dropped a feed on his own so is now on 3 bf a day. He was on 4 from about 6-7 months when he was on 3 good meals a day. Now he has a good feed first thing in the morning, one about 11ish and then one before bed, plus 3 meals and a couple of snacks a day. I think he's dropped a feed partly because he's on solids and partly because he's too busy to feed, he's so nosy!

As for expressing through the night I've never personally done that. I just used to find I would wake up looking like Jordan and be very relieved when Max had a good feed first thing in the morning. Sometimes I would express the boob he hadn't fed from but that was in the morning. I've found my body has just adapted to what Max wants, I definitely feel less heavy now but still have plenty of milk to feed him his 3 feeds a day xxx

Finn is 8 months and his feeds vary. If we are out and about he will only have 3 or 4 feeds, he might have one at 8, then 1 or 2pm then his bedtime one but if we are at home he feeds more, not because he's hungry but just because its there and accessible! x

Harry noticeably cut down his feeds around the 8 month mark- per that he was on a definate 3 times a day

Around 9 months this dropped to 2, but he sometimes needs topping up during the day so I give him formula

Your boobs should jus settle down on their own- whenever we've missed feeds or cut down I've never had to press to relieve them xx
