Advice needed

From someone who has NEVER had a break in the time i've been a mother, if the offer is there and you feel comfortable, i'd consider it! Everyone needs some time to themselves every now and again. It is so tiring being a mum and on demand feeding too.You sound like you need some rest.
If you are not making a regular thing of giving formula, it shouldn't matter, or affect your supply too much. You may feel a bit full and slightly painful so expressing may be a good thing,

I've never managed to give Angel a bottle no matter how much i tried but there's no saying you LO won't take it.

I have to say that getting a break is sometimes an absolute godsend. However, you need to make your choice on an informed basis. There is an interesting article here: http://www.health-e-learning.com/articl ... Bottle.pdf about the "virgin gut". My LO had some formula but he was put on formula top ups in the hospital and although we did end up exclusively BFing on occasion DH would give him some to let me get some sleep.

Oh hun Id take the offer of a break, you dont want to run yourself into the ground, especially as you are ill, you need to rest and get your self back on track.
Hop eyou feel better soon

thanks for that - although my tired addled brain isn't processing the info. It makes mention of infants guts up to 6 weeks. Olivia is nearly 21 weeks - but if giving her one formula feed is going to undo all the good I have done I won't do it. I didn't go through 4 weeks of agony for nothing. I don't really get when 'gut closure' occurs.

hey hun,
firstly
we started about 2 weeks ago giving jack a bottle of formula at night, it took him a while to get used to it but that was our only problem :D
i still feed him this though :wall: :wall:
his tummy was fine though hun xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Aww you have to do what you feel comfortable doing there is no right or wrong answer.

As you know dd had a bottle a day from 3 months its only now she skips it as she that much older, i like you found expressing really hard and would never get enough for a feed. Her tummy was fine.

You will not be undoing all your hard work.

I do think it is important to have a break. If your not comfortable with it could you feed her then go out for an hour and get back before her next feed. I find to really feel ive had a break i need to leave the house, or get oh to take dd out so i can't hear/see her.

Thanks ladies. I fed from one side overnight, got up early and managed to express a feed. I left her with OH while I went and had a head massage.

Feel loads better this morning anyway as I managed to get some sleep.

And came back to a very tidy flat - OH had cleaned, hoovered and done all the laundry so I can put my feet up and relax this afternoon. Feel a bit daft now about my crying episode.

Awww glad you got some sleep and are feeling better hun

A decent kip can do wonders for us Mums :) Makes it feel loads better
