advice needed please

I have an appointment with the specialist about my daughters extra toe and to set her operation date, my mind has gone blank with what to ask him. What questions would you ask?

what are the side effects? how long will she be in hospital? any further treatment needed? x

Id say the same as above really?
Also maybe do you need to do anything in prep?> ie, nil by mouth for a certain amount of time, what type of anaethestic, side effects of that too, any obvious permanent scarring etc?
