I feel like such a bad mum! how can my 3 week old get a cold?!

She was awake most of the night and would only sleep when being cuddled. She seems to be struggling to breathe and I just want to hold her and protect her.

Is there anything I can do to make her more comfortable or to make sure that it clears up soon?!

Awww you aren't a bad mum hun, these things just happen. Are you able to prop her mattress up a bit at the head end? That should make breathing a bit easier. Nothing wrong with extra cuddles when they are poorly either. Hope she gets better soon hun x

Ella has been suffering also for about the last five days I thought it was a cold to start with but I'm now thinking she might have silent reflux - I'm popping into the hospital tomorrow so will ask them x

well we've had cuddles all day and she seems to be coping a little better (as am I!) She's sleeping in her chair at the moment so is elevated a little, will try propping up her mattress a little tonight to see if we can both get some sleep!

Thanks ladies :)

when my lo had a bad cough and cold she sugested either a bowel of steaming water under crib or near ir or a wet towel on hot radiator so the steam helps with the breathing raise head and also when ur having a shower or bath take her into the room so she can breath the steamy air x

Awww Hun it's so awful! My LO had an awful cold at 8 wks couldn't breathe etc and he also refused milk!! It's so not nice! Anyway I was advised the above and to take little one into bathroom and run a hot shower! Also put olbas oil on a tissue and put near Moses basket! You can also get a calpol saline nasal spray from the chemist! Hope your LO feels better soon and big mummy cuddles to u xx

Thanks for the support and advice ladies. I propped up her mattress last night and she slept really well so will keep up with that for now :)
