A name just hit us both as we're watching Pearl Harbor and it feels perfect already even though we're VERY early into pregnancy. What are other peoples opinions on it? My surname being Taylor..

Rafe Taylor

I like it :)

Love it! Don't worry about it being early, we had a girl's name picked out as soon as we started trying and it was six months before we got our positive. Go crazy because you never know how long it'll take you to agree on a girl's name!

I'm too scared to discuss names with OH as he started trying to combine family members names and coming up with noises rather than names - think along the lines of David+Mark+Richard+Chris = "Damarichis" or Mary+Liz+Susan+Joanne = "Malisujo". Idiot.

I Love it too! I wanted it on our boys name list but Hubs wasnt keen!

Good to see people like it, it's had very mixed reactions so far. Worst reaction was saying it sounded and looked like a certain other 4 letter word beginning with r. We don't see that at all

SparkleBug.. girls names, ugh, haha. I'm struggling with them so much so for girls early seems best. I did always say if I had a girl I'd name her after my best friend, Jessica Lynn. Only really have that, Imogen, Izzy or Ava (Tom DeLonge fan :D)

mylullaby.. not hard to see why you're scared to discuss lol. Maybe best to discuss and get the wacky phase over and done with? :p

Thanks for all the replies btw :D

I love Pearl Harbor and Rafe was a name I was thinking of for ages. I absolutely love it and I still think about it.

We decided not to go with it but I occasionally think I would like to put it back on the table.

If you like it, go for it. We have decided to go for William. People think its just a nice name we chose but secretly it is because one of my all time favourite movies is 'A knights tale' with Heath Ledger. HAHA!

I've never heard of it before, how do you pronounce it? Is it like cave or raft without the t?! I think either way goes well with your surname as that has a strong beginning to it.

It's said like ray-f, not good with typing sounds lol umm, think 'rave' but with the f sound instead of the v one

I literally just guffawed at this! Hubby gave me a look!

Just soooo funny!!

Your husband is adorable! Just don't let him name your child. Lololol.

"Adorable" wasn't the first word that sprang to mind! Haha!

I won't tell him about your guffaw Emily - it'll only encourage him

Bloody glad we're deciding on names early now, gives everyone else 8-9 months to get used to what WE want regardless of how weird they find the choices and if they still have issues with either choice once the baby is born then they have issues while we have someone to love and bring up. No way will I let my child ever feel they're entitled to put someone elses choices down. After being on this forum I'm picking up quickly from others that nothing but me, my girlfriend and our baby matters and am glad to have joined

Damn right, Nightwolf! Occasionally have to remind myself of that fact too!

Exactly. Your child, you choose the name! We decided early on and told people when they asked. It also feels better when you talk about the baby or the baby's room. Nice to be able to say a name and not just 'baby'. For some reason I feel silly saying that.

It really does feel nice to say a name rather than baby. It feels so much more personal if you can put a name there. It's exciting to keep talking and it's all 'Jessica or Rafe' rather than baby, it, him/her
