had growth scan today and weight was estimated at 5lbs 10 so big was wandering of other peoples experiences of big babys what the estimates were at how many weeks and actual size of baby.

Thanks

My LO measured 5lb 10oz at 34 weeks too - they said she was a normal size but sounded big to me! I'm 36 weeks now and baby is measuring 7lbs already! Doctor said she should be around 8lb 7oz mark at 39 weeks when I'm having c section - section not due to her size, due to my obstetric history. Doc said shes around 75th percentile so not huge but still a very good size :) only 19 days till delivery for me now!

Do you think I will be induced as my last baby was 8lb 9 an i went 11 days overdue really dont want to go overdue with this one as im sure hes gonna be huge an im only 5 foot 1 an small.they havent said anything to me about what will happen.

I have only been measured, not been given any idea of weight of bean. Is it the midwife who has told you the weight?

I got told at 34 weeks with dd she was above average and to expect over 8lb baby she came at 36 week weighing 6lb 6oz.
I don't always think those scan predictions are right.

Hi, Ihad a growth scan as baby was measuring slightly big.
Hope hes not gonna be huge my last one was 8lbs 9 at 11 days overdue and that was an awful and long delivery.

karla25 dont think they will induce you due to big baby, my first was 8 days over weighed 9lb and i only weighed pre preg of 7 and half stone. they didnt mention being induced with my second

Yeah I dont think they will unless they think hes gonna be huge just wishful thinking lol

I've been told not to worry about a bigger baby, bigger babies can actually deliver easier than smaller ones. Gravity is a big help in the whole process, especially if you adopt and upright or all fours position, so the heavier the baby the more gravity helps the process.

Its guess work by the professionals! I wouldnt take much notice. My LO was born 2 days early. They told me at 36 weeks the she was 7 and 1/2 and when born came out at 5pound 10! I had a loooooong labour and the reasons I was given was weight of baby (no gravity to help) and also she was back to back and I gave birth that way! xxx

oh wow thats a big diffrence, I have heard of other people having got it wrong too but I feel big so I do think he will defo b on the bigger side

The scans give an estimate but they can be majorly inaccurate so I wouldn't worry too much honey. I'm only 5'2 and my first was an 8lber and my second was 4lb 14oz born at 30 weeks. Your first at 8lb 9oz after being 11 days overdue is a good average weight, def not huge. They don't consider baby's to be on the big side unless the weigh 4.5kg or more, which is around 10lb. I know someone who recently had an 11lb 8oz baby, all natural too! He literally flew out, she had no time for pain relief or anything - she said it was the fastest labour ever!

well ill keep my fingers crossed for a super speedy delivery, thanks for your help, hope everything goes well for you xx

i know of a little 5ft 15 year old who had a 10lb 4oz baby, how the hell she did it naturally ill never know, she didnt look that big either!!

I had a growth scan the other day at 30+4 and my baby was estimated at 4lb8 already. Yours actually sounds around average for you weeks??

I dont think they will induce you early, if your baby puts on the average 1/2lb a week then it will be around 8 1/2 - 9lb which be a good size :) x

I think 8 or 9 lbs would be a fine weight just dont want to go overdue and have a bigger baby but i guess the baby is just gonna come when hes ready and at whatever size he is so not much I can do about it lol

She was a friend from another pregnancy forum I used go on - I nearly died when I saw his birth weight!! She nicknames him giant!! Her previous boy wasn't huge, he was a good size but not anywhere near 11lb!!
