5 weeks & bleeding

I found out a week ago that I am pregnant. According to my dates I should be 5 weeks. Today I have had a small amount of red blood, literally a small spotting and an achy cramp. I have been pregnant before, I have a9 year old but didn't have anything like this that time round. I've tried to make a doctor appointment today but need to try again tomorrow as they didn't have any. I've gone from not wanting this baby to not wanting to lose it!! My last period I was 10 days late I usually start my period around 31st I had 3 negative tests and then started my period on the 9th i did have a usual 3/4 days of bleeding. I calculated my late period this time from that date (the 9th) so took a test when I was 2 days late and it was positive. I have taken a digital one and that's positive. Im worried now as I was just getting my head into the idea of it

A lot of women have small bleeds around the time periods are due and gone on to have healthy pregnancies, if it gets worse though I'd go to a+e where they will monitor you door your bloods level and scan you, try not to worry and get your feet up xx

Bleeding around this stage can be ok, it happened to me with my 5 month old and obviously everything was fine. Good luck xx

A lot of women have small bleeds around the time periods are due and gone on to have healthy pregnancies, if it gets worse though I'd go to a+e where they will monitor you door your bloods level and scan you, try not to worry and get your feet up xx

A&E is for emergencies and should only really be used if you have very heavy bleeding or pain. I say this as someone who has had miscarriages myself and also bleeding in a successful pregnancy. If you contact your local EPU they can advise xx

It could be implantation bleeding still.

I had spotting from week 5 to nearly week 9.
I had a scan at 8 weeks and all was ok

Hi, Hope that you are ok ? Bleeding in early pregnancy is very scary, I had bleeding from around 6 weeks for almost four weeks it was so scary, I got a referal from my doctor to the EPU & they were really good to me, I was scanned & reassured that everything was fine i`am now 16 weeks pregnant & baby is doing well, Try not to worry X

Hi up to now I've had no more bleeding. I have a doctors appointment on Monday so will get the ball rolling. What with my concerns over my dates & that I am flying to Mallorca when I'll be 10 weeks are they likely to do an early scan? X

When you speak to your doctor they should refer you to the Early pregnancy unit due to bleeding & they will scan you there, You will wait a couple of days after youve seen your doctor to get an appointment with them, I`am glad that the bleeding has now stopped i know how worrying it is X

I had some more bleeding Thursday night but have had no more. Been to the doctor today and he's got me an appointment for an early scan at the epu for Friday xx

Hi I've just got back. They saw a pregnancy sac but no baby said it maybe too early to see one yet though so another scan booked for 2weeks fri 13th!!

Ive seen alot of posts where its too early to see & a lot of women going back in for a second scan before they see anything, Stay positive i`am sure everything is fine, I know how worrying & upsetting this time can be as ive been there myself, Sending you lots of love & hugs i`am thinking of you X

Thanks loupylou I feel like this will be the longest 2 weeks of my life! Really been a rollercoaster of emotions as it was an unexpected pregnancy but I feel so rotten, horrible taste, strong sense of smell, nausea,sore breasts, tiredness! I feel like at least a baby would make this all make sense but not knowing if there is one is making me wonder if some symptoms are psychological?! I think I need to turn google off too!!

Keep away from google most of the stories on there are the bad ones that don't work out, I had a scan at 5 weeks and only saw the sac I went back a week later and baby was there with heart beat I'd gone on google too and got it in my head that it was a belighted ovum and that I wasn't pregnant I won't go on google now only the NHS website if I need to or I just call Epau if worried xx

I know exactly how you feel i felt exactly the same its perfectly normal, I`am guilty of going on google too but i feel that i only took in the bits that i wanted to, What we need to remember is that every pregnancy is different as every women is & we will all experience pregnancy in different ways so i guess its really not helpful for our own wellbeing as we dont know other peoples medical history either, I was convinced i was having a miscarriage but i hung on to the tiny little bit of hope that i had left & everything has been fine so far, I do still worry a little bit but i think thats perfectly normal anyway ive been like that with all my pregnancies this is my third & my last, Keep yourself as busy as you can & stay positive is my advice & keep of google X

Hi thought I might just update you after my follow up scan today. I had an abdominal scan which surprisingly showed clearly a baby measuring 9w1d 🙂 Strong heartbeat and lots of movement!! It was the same person scanning me as 2wks ago and he said he was disappointed in himself he missed it at the last scan but it is far back in the womb! So less worrying for me for a bit!!
