Hi All

I hope everyone is doing well! I'm after some advice please, I'm currently 5 days overdue with my first baby. I had a sweep yesterday and I've experienced some mild pain which has now disappeared and also a show. The midwife said the baby's head is down very low and my cervix is soft and starting to open.

This morning I was sat on the edge of the bed and stood up, my back seems to have given up and I now cannot straighten it without extreme pain and dis comfort. Up until this point I've been really mobile and I haven't struggled with a bad back at all.

I'm now thinking I hope I don't go into labour in the next day as my back will be in agony. I'm also guessing I can't take anything other than a paracetamol? Can anyone recommend anything to help with the pain.

Thanks everyone x

Hot water bottle, or ice pack if site of back ache is inflamed!!

Or warm shower on site of pain should help reduce pain and relax any muscles that have spasmed.

I you're not running around after other kids as well if probably say a day or 2 of complete rest to try and encourage it to heal as quick as possible. Keep taking paracetomol and don't lift anything. As flosibsaid, heat will work well as well x

In all honesty it could be the babys position causing your back pain! Try to rest as much advice possible!

Deep freeze packs work when my back is sore. But it sounds like you could be a bit more than just ache.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I've tried hot water bottles and also a hot bath. Started with pains on my front quite low down last night and been awake again with them this morning.

Thinking this could be the start of something happening x

Sounds like something is happening! Don't leave it too long before phoning the hospital. The sweep could have definitly kick started things. Good luck! X

Oh it certainly sounds like things are moving on for you hunnie. Good luck!!
