Well I'm 24 weeks tomorrow and have my midwife check. I was just wondering why 24 weeks is supposed to be a milestone?

Xx

Before 24 weeks if baby dies it's a miscarriage, after 24 it's a stillborn. Also hospitals may not offer baby any medication if it's before 24 weeks. Baby has a good chance now if he/she was born now.

Well done xxxx

Exactly as the others have said , in my hospital they make the difference very obvious . If you go in with bleeding before 24 weeks they just send you to the emergency room . If your 24 weeks they assess you in labour and delivery . So well done you xx

congrats hun we all getting closer now :)

congratulations hun! Yes as the other girls said this is a big milestone :) Before this, if baby was born then the docs wouldnt attempt to save him/her, whereas now they would because baby has a chance of survival xx

hey, your baby is viable chick... congrats xx

I'm looking forawrd to Friday for the same reason!! Our little one's are finally classed as human beings! :) x

Oh I hope everything goes ok tomorrow!! What do they do at the midwife check? They don't take blood do they? I have a phobia of having blood taken.

Xx

My midwife said i wasn't getting my bloods until the 26 week appointment as its too early now but because i am so terrified of needles and can't enjoy my appointments i am only getting one more blood test at 30 week so inbetween when your meant to get the 2! She said it would be fine. xxx

Yeah i've gotta have more bloods taken next time I see her which will be when i'm almost 26 weeks. I don't have a phobia though luckily but I did have a MEGA bruise at the 12 weeks bloods, if I bruise like that again i'll post a pick, it was very impressive! lol x

I know I am having bloods taken on the 9th March (when I will be 26 weeks) as I am having a diabetes test. My midwife has asked them to take my 28 week bloods at the same time as I get so hysterical. I phoned today just to let them know I am phobic so they get a tolerant nurse in. I think it is best to prepare them for a difficult patient! LOL! I am fine with injections, not worried about my anti-D injection at all, it's the thought of a needle going into my vein and taking blood out! yuk yuk yuk!!!

xx

The thought is actually worse than the needle lol! Does your midwife not take your bloods mine does? xxx

Normally she would be taking the 28. Week bloods, but my hospital do the diabetes screening in a seperate unit of the hospital. Have to fast the night before and then have blood taken when I go in. Then I have to drink a glucose solution and wait 2 hours then they take MORE blood to check for glucose intolerance! I wish it was my midwife taking it, but I can see her point in getting the 28 week bloods taken at the same time. Plus it saves her half an hour of negotiating with me about taking my blood. Lol!

Xx
