12 week scan - disappointing!

Hi all,

Had my 12 week scan today, midwife put me at 11 weeks so only 1 day out.
Was disappointed with appointment really, it was so rushed, she got us in and basically said 'yes baby is fine, 4 and a half cms, heartbeat fine, there's your scan, goodbye' Ultrasound machine was on its last legs and scan is rubbish My only comfort is that baby is alive and kicking (literally ). Was having a wee stretch of the legs
I'm just glad all is ok which means I get to go spend loads of money on baby stuff soon

I was worried when I was the updated subject heading, but I'm glad to hear all is fine - at least you can be sure you're baby is in there dancing away. Maybe you should spend some of that baby cash on a private scan in a few weeks time to make up for the rushed job today?

Hun join the queue of those of us not happy with our first scans mine was the same very quick in and out in 2 minutes flat with a telling off for having too full a bladder. I didn't even get a change to see the baby moving she scanned me that quick. We did what eightball suggested and booked a private scan the next week it was much much better the equipment was far superior and we got a really good luck at the baby. If you can afford it I would definitely recommend it.

Edited : meant to say the main thing is that the baby is ok and kicking away merrily I am delighted for you everything is ok.

im glad your baby is doing well! i would book in for a private scan if you want to get a good look, i think its well worth it!

Thanks for replies...think I was having a moody moment when I posted the first time I'm really happy all is well, thats the main thing when it comes down to it

Will have to try talk hubby round to having private scan as we already had one at 7 weeks so he might say no Maybe thats why I was disappointed with 12 week scan, early private scan was excellent...we heard heartbeat and sonographer spent loads of time trying to get a good pic so there was quite a difference in how we were treated but I guess thats what happens when you pay!!

when i went for my 12 week scan i thought i was 15weeks but the scan put me back to 9weeks and 6 days

hi. what a shame it wasnt what you hoped for, but as said, at least the baby is healthy

my 12week scan was the same. measured, printed a couple of piccies.

but he was good in the fact that my oh and dad only got there toward the end. and he held the pic for a min or 2 so they could see

Just got my hospital referal yesterday, i dont even get a 12 week scan
They said to expect the one and ONLY scan to be about 20/22 weeks w@nkers
Glad bubbs is all healthy and kicking tho flower

Apparantly they don't do them at 12 weeks anymore,
The referal letter says that the midwife appointment will take over an hour and that no scan could be done at this point and if the dates don't tally i can ask my GP to send a letter for a dating scan, but because i had 2 lots of bleeding early on they wont give me another dating scan.

Only thing i can do is beg and explain about my hernia and see if they will do a sneaky one i guess,
