No worries. I was thinking about it a little more last night and I actually should have said that if you are happy with the latch then start putting her to the breast as often as possible even though you'll probably then give a little formula in addition - it will be time consuming to start...
Hi Mel
First of all, well done for continuing to breast feed as well as formula - it would be so much easier to give up altogether - you've done so well to stick with it.
Reading your thread, the unsettled baby - crying after a long feed - could be the result of baby trying to stimulate...
 I totally sympathise with you as I had this problem first time around. I really recommend going to a bf clinic - I gave up last time at 6 weeks but I totally regretted it afterwards - I'm certain now it was because she didn't have a good latch so wasn't getting any of the hind milk...
Congratulations. I can't believe the appalling treatment though - you really should complain if you haven't already. Loved the bit about the waters breaking on the old witch!!
Glad you managed to avoid the hospital stay!

That's funny - the rare times she's actually settled in her cot, she's always ended up in our bed by 4am...
Thanks for all your replies - I do feel a lot better about the co-sleeping thing.

Sometimes if Amelie coughs when she's breastfeeding the milk comes out of her nose bless her. I don't know if there are any positions which can avoid it - but she doesn't do it too often thank goodness.

Hi again
my left breast is really painful along one side and there are some pink/reddish areas. I think I must have a blocked milk duct - have tried feeding Amelie but it's not clearing it. Please does anyone have any suggestions?

No - it actually says juice should NEVER be given in a bottle, and that milk shouldn't be given in a bottle after 6 months .
As I say Maddie had a bottle for 18 months so it's a little late for me!

not sleeping too well in that she doesn't settle in her cot - hates being on her back so every time I sneak her in she wakes up again. Eventually by around 2am I'm so exhausted I end up feeding her laid down in bed and we both fall asleep in bed. I know this isn't recommended but I don't know...
I read that you shouldn't use bottles once baby gets to 6 months or has their first tooth. It was in a 'baby's teeth' info sheet.
That said, I only just read it so Maddie was still having her milk from a bottle until she was 18 months old  and all other drinks from a beaker.

Hiya
Thought I'd ask as Amelie only seems to want to feed for up to 20 minutes at a time most feeds (previously it was more like 40 minutes). She's gaining weight nicely but I just wondered if it's contributing to her feeding more frequently (she seems to cluster feed throughout the...
