Ugh. I am sick. I have been up all night feeling sick and have had an upset stomach several times :? I know they are short staffed, but I'm not going to drag my sorry butt to work whilst feeling sick and on 3 hours sleep

So I rang up and they went ape at me, saying that they were really short staffed etc etc moan moan whinge whinge. I say 'sorry...if I feel any better I will come in etc...' but I won't. I am so angry they feel they can put that pressure on me! All last week we were a team member short, for the whole week. Okay, so she has flu and she's really not very well but how does that make a difference? No-one gave her a hard time or told her to hurry back into work, my team leader cooed at her down the phone every morning and told her to go back to bed and rest etc etc. It's damn favourtism, that's what it bloody is :x I am SO sorry to have inconvenienced you by getting sick but I refuse to feel guilty about it!

I just have to keep reminding myself that I am leaving at the end of May, and that I want to leave on good terms. But I can't wait to leave that hell hole :(

*crawls back to bed* :bored:

its so not right that they should have that attitude with you. hope you're feeling better soon

Hiya,

before getting preganant i used to think discrimination against preggers people was something that only happened in the past, but my goodness, it's rife!!

I have had some favouritism agiansts me as well and yet they really want me back at the end of my mat leave.

Honestly if they want that they should treat us well.

Sandi

That is sooo wrong and I'm sorry they're making you feel crap, they shouldn't (morally AND legally!). Stay off until you feel 100% and don't drag yourself in!

I was off sick for 2 days with a really awful cold a few months ago and though the automatic assumption with several was that it was a pregnancy related problem. Because you can't be ill and pregnant at the same time you know  . Thankfully they were all understanding and supportive, though!

i know how you feel. i had saturday off work and i felt so guilty and i know i shouldnt.

im going back to work today at 1pm the first time in a week. superdrug is shut and were converting back to a normal store. i just keep reminding myself i can go on maternity leave from the 18th of May!!! i can NOT wait!

I simply cannot ring in sick, cos i feel so bad about it!!

The stupid thing is im 6 months pregnant and almost the only person in there not to have had a sick day!!

When my manager tells me he's fed up of sicknedd and he'd understand if i was off cos of pregnancy but not all the others especially as he thinks its after a friday night out it just makes me feel even more like i cant take time off.

I even feel bad booking holiday ffs!!!! I keep telling myself after next week i can leave if i want, but they'd be pretty screwed, and i need the money :(

I cant wait to leave, no more listening to stories about baby daddy and no more little 17 year olds gossiping, no more bitchy customers YAY

Thankyou for the support

It just bothers me because it's obviously so corrupt :x They were like 'we NEED you here tomorrow Claire', trying to make me feel as guilty as possible, but I can't flipping help when I chose to get sick!

I am actually feeling a bit better now...I slept for a while this morning and have just had coffee (decaf) and toast, and it appears to be staying put. But I'm not going to tell them that :moon:

My work were the same, really harsh with me.
I had a tummy bug and work policy says we are not allowed in for 72 hours because we could pass it on and i still got a phone call saying that they were 'fed up' with me being off work! I'd fainted the week before and been sent home for an afternoon and then i got the tummy bug, it really peed me off as it was their policy that meant i couldn't go in, they even implied i should just not have told them about being ill!

Anyway, my rant over. I understand and feel sorry for you, just remember that at the end of the day you and your LO come first, screw what they think!!!!!!

Hope you feel better soon

My work have been pretty good in general. I have taken 8 days sick since January and I feel so bad about it. I hate the comments from other staff members (not my boss or HR) about having to do my job whilst I'm away although that has got slightly better since I announced my pregnancy at 12 weeks.

Aww Claire  They sound like nasty, horrible people...

Don't you worry, you just focus on getting better for you and bubs, stuff them! You had to cope with a member down so now they'll have to.

Sounds like you're a really valued member of staff, try to see it that they NEED you! xx

Hope you feel better soon hun xx

   Sorry you're not well. Your boss sounds nasty. I would be so upset if that happened to me. Don't let them pressurise you into going in when you aren't well...otherwise, you may end up having to take more time off later on through exhaustion.

My bosses aren't great either, since I found out I was pregnant in December have been suffering with M/S - has gradually got better but I still can't get to work before 9.30 as feel rough (start 8.45) at one time it was 1 p.m. so feel have got much better.

Next week I have to give someone a 2nd Interview (of my job!!!) and boss wants her in at 8.45 - when i pointed out that I wouldn't be in then he said could I not come in just this once at 8.45 - I quicky pointed out to him that if I could I would be doing it daily and getting paid for it and not have money deducted each month. I get the impression that they just think I can't be bothered to get there for 8.45 not that I'm still throwing up! I suppose this comes of working in an all male environment.

that sucks, legally the only discussion they can have with you is to offer any assistance.

All you need to tell them, is that you are off sick, the reason for that and when you will be back (if you know) or when you will phone again.

I went through all of this with my shitty work a couple of weeks ago as i was phoned 3 times during the day all of which woke me up, spoke to the union and they told me the above.

Good luck and dont let the *******s grind you down

Sorry you've been ill and not sleeping
Roll on the end of May I say :cheer:
Sending some get well soon dust  :D
