which ways baby supposed to face?

im sure on videos of births i'v seen and in diagrams when the baby comes out its facing the mothers bottom not her tummy? is that right? but i'm still getting lumps popping out of my belly now and then. is my baby facing the right way? she's a bit pesky coz shes breech (or was on wednesday) so wont be surprised if shes totally the wrong way around!

when I had my check up last week my Doc said that baby was facing my back, ie inwards which he said was normal (we have a scan every appt over here), maybe the lumps you are getting are heels or bottom or elbows etc. I can often feel hard lumps which I'm sure are babys feet.

They normally face your bottom. Sam was face upwards. Here in Switzerland they call that a 'stargazer'. It's not too pleasant for mum and baby if he's face up! Hope your bub turns before the birth.

LO should face towards bottom when coming out, facing the other way is back to back and can make delivery a little bit harder. my little boy was back to back and i ended up having a vontouse delivery ( not nice) midwife suggest you sit on birthing ball or on an upright chair to correct position as slouching encouranges your baby to lie back to back. from about 30 weeks im planning to sit upright as much as possible so hopefully will prevent this from happening again. some babies turn at last minute or when labour has started so dont worry to much.

No it is common for babies to lie to one side during pregnancy, and facing your right is actually a fantastic way for LO to face, during labour and the weeks leading to it, your LO will descend into your pelvis and beigin to rotate, so don't panic,

Sam turned during labour, it was just bad luck! Normally they rotate to face backwards.

Hi,

My baba is still sideways facing the right, back against my left side so i get feet poking out of my right hand side, MW said it's fine,i could get back on my hands and knees if i wanted but said a few contractions would probably do the job. Not engaged at last check on Saturday,but not worried about this.
