Hey girls ...wanting a bit of advice!

Caitlin ate next to nothing and drank very little in 24 hours ...

I know appetite goes in sick kids but whats the 'rule' if there is one on this? Ive offered alsorts from toast her fav cereal yoggys which she loves even biscuits!! Went to try potatoe waffled and she'd clonked out again ...just wants to sleep on her poorly duvet onthe sofa x

i think fluid is more important than food when kids are sick..

no more advice just plenty of hugs

Terrie's right - fluids are most important. Seth (2yr old nephew) had this sickness bug this week and hasnt eaten a single thing from monday to friday - doctor said dont worry just keep him hydrated. He managed his milk and puked that and a yoggy (fav with him too) but puked that too. Water and juice. :)

x

What if your not doing that - Shes totally refusing fluids esspecially today!

I can see her ending up in hospital x

Evie was the same when she had a horrible sickness bug. I took her to the Dr and was given something called Dioralyte which you mix in water, it replaces sugars / salts that they lose and prevents dehydration. We had to use a syringe to get her to have some as she was refusing fluids too, we gave her about 5ml every 10 mins or so and it did the trick, she started drinking again after about 3 days but didn't eat solids properly for over a week.

Her GP wasn't concerned about her not wanting solids but it's REALLY important they get as much fluid as possible when they're sick.

Possibly worth seeing her GP if you're worried to put your mind at rest too. Hope she's feeling better soon :hug:xx

Fluids are definitely most important in this case, and Dioralyte is a good suggestion.

Hope little miss is feeling better soon
xx

Thanks girls x

She went to the out of hours quacks then onto the childrens ward to be checked out. We just need to ride it out and as you say more fluids but it was a better to get checked than not and told us not to worry about food.

Maley had the sickness bug going around and she wouldnt eat either but she managed some water.....poor thing her legs were so skinny!! She lost some weight but is making up for the lack of eating now!!!

Ahh poor little thing. It's good she's been checked, puts your mind at rest too.

I feel your pain as we've had two sickness bugs since Evie started nursery and they are horrible to deal with.

Hope she's on the mend really soon xx
