Hello

just wondering what its like once you realise your in labour and you go into hospital (assuming your not too early on and they send you home) is it like on OBEM where you have your own room until you are ready to pop? and where do they put you afterwards? does the bubba come with you? & how long do they tend to keep you in nowadays?

Thanks :)

when you realise your in labour adrenaline and excitement kicks in
if your in established labour you will be given your own birthing room you will then be in this room till after birth if they are not busy you tend to stay in this room for a few hours untill you have given 1st feed showered ect then you are moved onto a ward (can be a noisy ward with all the new mums and babies) your baby will stay with you at all times unless he/she needs help they dont tend to use nurserys anymore as they wont discharge you until you know how to care for a baby (basic caring that is you dont need to know everything lol), 7 years ago when i was in having my dd there was a woman who kept asking for her baby to go to the nursery so she could sleep i wanted to punch her because she just talked on the phone all the time they wouldnt discharge her because she hadnt spent a full night with her baby and she let him roll of the bed just as i was being discharged

Does everyone get kept in overnight or does it just depend on the hospital, that is assuming you have a normal birth? My old neighbour was sent home 8 hours after giving birth

i think it depends on the hospital and what support you have at home and what time you actually give birth on my 1st they only let me home because i had my mum there but that was 10 years ago i think they are more happy now for you to go earlier

normally u get induced on ur first because u go over, i went into hospital in morning and sat in on a bed with all other pregnant woman around and got a tablet and then went for something to eat etc 3 hours later i was in pain in this room full of other mums i was screaming cause it hurt and i had some other mum across from me laughing with her fella. my mum and fella got sent home because it was going to be a long day. when i was so many cms they moved me to birth room (on your own) and give birth to my baby boy at 3am and i hurd the girl next door to me screaming and crying like mad and found out it was the one laughing at me lol

It depends on the hospital-with my 3 natural deliveries I went into delivery suite (all private rooms) and stayed in that room til I went home with my baby-was home same day with them all.
When I had my emergency section I went into delivery, rushed to theatre then went to the postnatal ward with my baby and stayed there 3 days xx

I had a private room for both my labours. 1st time I stayed in for 3 days cos I had a major op after and was on a ward with 1 other mum and with my 2nd I had my own room, own toilet, I was the only 1 there that day so had my own bathroom and stayed 5 hours then went home!

My hospital saty was three days on the ante-natal ward in slow labour , moved to a private delivery room too give birth . we were then cleaned up , given tea and toast . Taken down to a post-natal ware with four other women and their babies . Because it was 2 in the morning and I had had a spinal block I was told to sleep and OH was sent home , the MW kept Aoibheannn with her until 7 to monitor her as she has high carbon monixide levels . Brought her back at 6 . Then I had to stay on the ward for three days .

aww wwell first off, you are just overwhelmed excited an scared all at once..............its like WOW its happening,

when u get to hozzy they usually check u to see if u r in labor or not if u r in slow of not established they may send u home if not you usually got to a birthing room

in there (my hozzy) you chill they av telly on walll, bath /shower /radio /big bean bags /birthing balls/bed air con ect when in there they will check u over n see whats happening if alls fine you will stay there untill u give birth or from there if the birthing pool is free u will be moved there,

with me unfortunately i had to be rushed to a different place as they thought DS was breach at first then in end a section so got moved again but it all depends on how your labor goes and thats just thing you never get any guarantees on how its going to go in labor

but what ever way its a lovely amazing time an at the end u av ur baba, i remember being in shock just looking at this lil baba in a fish tank thinking, shitttttttttttt hes mine all mine, hes perfect words cant do it its just summat u will feel when its happened x x

hooo and if its your first an normal labor you av stay there 1/2 days

if its a section, 4/5 days

and if its second + baby and all went well could be as little at 6 hours after u can go home, again just depend on how it goes on day x

My hospital said that if the labour has been uncomplicated and you and baby are healthy you can go home in 4-8 hour after birth!!!

xx
