Hi everyone, Cahal is due to have his 2nd meningitis c vaccination tomorrow and I'm in two minds whether to go through with it or not.
Two weeks after his first dose he developed a non-blanching 'meningitic' rash, spent two night in hospital which made him miserable, and was pumped full of antibiotics which made him ill. Obviously I was relieved and very thankful for the care he received before getting the all clear but I don't want to put him through it again if it was just a reaction to the vaccine. If he were to have the second dose and a rash were to appear then I couldn't ignore it and he would have to go through it all again
so far I have spoken to a health visitor, she gave me a number at the general medical enquiries board but their pharmacist wouldn't speK to me cos apparently the uv should have rang as they don't speak to joe public. I have also spoken to nhs direct and my sil who is a nurse. No-one gas been able to reassure me it wouldn't be likely to hapoen again so now I'm in a bit of a quandry...
What would you do? Refuse? Delay? Consent? I'm so confused about what to do!
