Every day i'm rattling!

What vitamins do you take and what dose?

I am trying to improve egg health, so just started taking the following (Thanks to Lisey for the recommendations)

4000 IU (100ug) vitamin D3
CoEnzyme Q10 200 mg - think maybe I should up this?
folic acid 400ug with vit d 10ug
Evening Primrose Oil 1500 mg - 3x 500mg a day, only until ovulation
Pregnacare, and fella is on the man version

Also norethisterone to make our upcoming sunny holiday perfect timing for BD

I also have a green smoothie everyday, with kale, avocado, spinach, lime, banana and coconut water

I was taking pregnacare and coq10 for a while but just switched to only folic acid, vit D and coq10 to give my body a break from all the massive amounts of vitamins in pregnacare. That and it's expensive and it doesn't seem to be getting me pregnant. I'll probably go back on Tesco his and hers conception after I run out of folic acid and vit d.

Unless advised you don't really need to be taking extra folic acid and vitamin d as it's already all in pregnacare xx

Thanks for your reply however I am specifically taking high dose of vitamin d3 to improve egg health as I am 43 and have amh level of 1.3 so want to make the best of the eggs I have left. There are lots of studies online claiming high vit d3 helps over 40's ttc so whilst pregnacare may be enough for most, I feel I need a little extra help. Worth a try anyway :-) xx

I've tried various things over the many months we've been in this game and so far all it's done for us is lighten our bank balance. Sorry to sound negative but I really haven't seen any benefit for me.

OH is carrying on with a multivitamin which has most of the same things as the conception ones only because his motility improved after taking Wellman but we also improved diet and lifestyle so it could have been any of those things that helped. I'm carrying on with vit d and folic acid as they are the only ones that are actually recommended. Finishing off the omega 3 then I won't replace it. Also taking zinc until it's done.

I think if any of these things were going to work for us, they would have by now. That's not to say they won't work for you though.

That makes sense. Worth a go of course, just didn't want you rattling if you didn't need to be. Hope it makes a difference. Wouldn't hurt to up coq10, though it's so expensive xx

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought if your diet was good all you *need* is 500mcg folic acid to prevent neural tube defects. All the fish oil/omega 3s etc. are great but they're so expensive! Especially if you're trying for a long time. I just take a folic acid/iodine combo which is super cheap. When I actually get pregnant I'll swap to the expensive pregnancy multivitamins...

I'm taking Seven Seas Pre-conception tablets (1 a day). It's got the 400 micrograms of folic acid along with vitamin D, zinc, iron and a few B vitamins

I take Zahler Prenatal DHA, Pro-B Probiotics, Primrose oil 1300mg, Vitamin C 1,000 (I have a weak immune system) and Spirulina. Tried taking coconut oil tablets, but it made me really sick. Anyone recommend a good one?

I try to eat really healthy, probably an avocado a day to boot and watch my calorie intake. I drink lots of water.

Do you guys drink coffee or have alcohol while TTC?

If I drank an excessive amount of alcohol/coffee I'd be cutting back. But I think as long as you're not having an excessive amount, you should keep living your life as normal. A few drinks here and there won't hurt. I don't think it's healthy to let TTC rule your life, it just creates unnecessary stress.

Fwiw, I drink about 15 cups of tea every day. It's wayyyy too much caffeine, so I'm trying to cut back. Not just because we're TTC, but because I know it's not good for me!

I'd recommend just getting a jar of coconut oil and cooking with it or having it in hot milk or cocoa. Or just eat it.

Yea, I definitely have cut back on everything, but that's good to hear. I can't imagine giving up coffee if I don't have to right away! :)

I have tried just eating it and it was soooo gross, I gagged. The texture is weird and slimy. hehe. But I guess I can trying putting it in cocoa? I don't want to cook with it because it kills the good stuff that I want to get out of it.

You can put coconut oil in smoothies. (Its also fab as a moisturiser and make up remover!) Spirulina is vile. I keep trying it but cant take to it. So good for you though if you can tolerate it!

I take the pregnacare conception ones just now, but only cause they were on offer at the time :D

Hey, good idea! Never thought about smoothies. Spirulina is pretty yucky, but I just swallow it quick with a chaser of orange juice! hehe I just bought some calcium too because I guess my prenatal doesn't have enough of it. I swear, I can NOT find a prenatal that has everything you need in it; they are always missing something or have too much Vitamin A in them.

I didn't take anything for 2.5 years, started Inofolic half way through one cycle and conceived the very next cycle - would honestly highly recommend! It's mainly for those who suffer with PCOS but also greatly improves egg quality so can be used by anyone. It's a combo of folic acid and myo-inositol which you can buy separately and combine yourself as a cheaper option x
