I'm not a pushy mother... honest! but it just seems everyone elses little fella/princess is steps in front of mine...

He's trying to walk. He's getting around quite fast pushing his walker or holding your hand... but he just wont let go and go off on his own.

He'll say mumum or dada every now and again but most of the time he's speaking his own language. We talk to him all the time (maybe we need to shut up and guve him a chance)

He understand us because he'll point to what ever we ask him (eg tree's, door, mummies car)

Is all this normal or should be be saying more and walking unaided by now?

thanks for your advise.

Sounds normal to me. Ellie took her first walk on her own about 2 weeks ago. Since then she has taken a walk every few days. Yesterday was the first time she did a walk at nursery, but she still prefers to crab crawl or walk holding onto something as it is faster.

She says the following words Hello, Bye, Mummy, Daddy, Oh dear, uh-oh, get down (at the cats when they are up somewhere), ta, meow, dee-daa (the noise from her fire engine). The last 2 probably don't really count. She is starting to understand us but certainly doesn't point at things we are talking about.

My daughter is 20 months old and can only say daadee and mama (occasionally mummy)
Everything else is dee or didi, no matter what it is. She doesn't even do baby babble.
TBH I do get worried about her speech, but then think me stressing won't help her learn any faster.
Every baby is different and frankly some (especially mine!) are darn lazy and know they can get what they want without speaking.

HI

Thanks for your replies. I think i have a lazy boy! i suppose he'll speak when he's ready. He's understanding us so that's a bonus.

he sounds like he is spot on for his age. Seren was walking but then she has always been like that but talkikng took ages, and it wasn't till she was 18 months that she seemed to have a word explosion and now we can't get a word in edgeways.

Everyone keeps telling me that girls are more advanced than boys. Isaac is behind compared to some girls at playgroup but on some things he is miles infront compared to the boys.
