Getting baby to sleep at bedtime?!

She's drifts off no problem during the day but bedtime is a different story!

Any tips/advice gratefully received!

XXX

routine!! amelia knows when it is bed time cause she has a bath gets pjs on goes in her sleeping bag then has a bottle then she goes to sleep straight away we did his from her being two weeks old at first we were strict about doing it exactly the same now we can be flexible for example stayed at my mus over weekend so she had her routine doen at there house and slept in her pram (it has got a sleepsafe matress) but she wasnt bothered x

I agree, routine. We started our's from day 1 and do the same thing every night. Charley knows when it's bedtime now and gets excited!!

I also agree routine is the best thing, Tegan was a bugger to get to bed until we started a routine now as soon as she's in her cot she goes to sleep! x

Thanks ladies! Roughly how long did it take to establish your routines? X

It took mine about 2 weeks. He loves his bedtime!

Agree completely with all the other girls, def routine!!! Madison does love bath, bottle and bed x

Routine, but it doesnt have to be strict. I dont have the time (or money!) or bath Paige everyday so when she was younger Id get her changed for bed and then just take her upstairs for her last feed upstairs in a dimly lit room to wind her down for bed. Now, shes in such a routine that as soon as it hits 7pm shes off whether she has a bottle, bath or anything else.

This is good to read, I was wondering if it was too early to try and start a bedtime routine. She sleeps most of the time anyway but it would be good to start to get her into the habit! She seems to be restless around 6-8/9pm so I'll try a bath about half 6/7 tonight I think. Loulou let me know how you get on! I don't think I'm ready to leave her upstairs to sleep on her own yet though, did anyone else start a routine but continue to have baby with you?

Aww pinky she's still brand new yet! I started putting Indy upstairs to bed, and giving her last feed up there when she was about 3/4 weeks. She's still being quite "spirited" about going down to sleep though, and it can take up to an hour n a half to settle her to sleep!! X

I didnt do a routine until she waas being put upstairs when she was aroung 10 weeks I think. I wouldnt worry about her being unsettled in the evening pinky, it seems to be a traight with babies that the evening is always more unsettled, bed time rountine or not. I used to dread the evening from 5pm onwards. Gah, Id forgotten about it until you wrote that! Just goes to show theyre soo cute you forget all the bad things in the early days :P

Thanks girls. I'm going to try the bath tonight but I'm defo not ready to leave her upstairs, i'd just spend the whole night up.and down the stairs
My new monitor doesn't come till Friday anyway.

Hey hun I started with bath relaxed him right out and now falls straight asleep or did before growth spurt lol.
I have only just put Archie up at night x x

well girls ... did bath, pjs, bottle and bed and she fell straight to sleep tonight! and ... she is still sleeping 50 mins later!! haha. I wonder if she still will be in another 50 mins!!!!! I bought Johnsons Bedtime Bath bubbles today and it smelled so lovely I might use it in my bath too!! x

i started routine from day one and put her upstairs on her own awake at night at maybe 3 weeks or so, only on the advice from the lovely ladies on here haha and it worked for us!! good luck xxx

How did it go last night loulabelle? I gave Emily a bath last night and she didn't scream :) I'm keeping her downstairs with me atm though. Going to try putting her upstairs on her own in a couple of weeks probably.
