Bit of a gross one, but how often should a 3 week old vomit..and I mean projectile like, not just dribbles from winding? Ella has done this a few times..last week, yesterday and today about an hour after feeding. Only once a day though. Do babies sometimes over-indulge when feeding?

They dont over indulge, its posetting (sp?) Daniel is 6 months old and is still doing it. When he was smaller it was after the feeds and in between, now, usually its in between :wall: Still waiting to stop :wall:

So, the answer is-it might be quite often :? Unless all of the feed comes out you shouldnt worry

Adam was quite bad in the first few weeks. I thought it was normal but it turned out that he had reflux. Keep an eye on her, and monitor when she is sick. If there is no improvement it might be worth mentioning it to your HV or GP. It can be difficult to get it diagnoised.

Please don't worry as it is normal for a baby to vomit quite alot at this age.

Adam still vomits quite bad every other day even though he is on Gaviscon Infant and it tends to get worse when he has a cold.

I think that a baby can over eat, and will just bring up any extra after a feed. Adam can projectile vomit an hour after a feed too, so I know it is his reflux.

A Thing to try might be keeping her as up right as possible after a feed. It didn't stop Adam from being sick, but it did help a bit.

Let us know how things are going. xxx

if it is projectile and alot is comin up (like most of a feed) he has maybe got a touch of reflux..

mention it to your HV next time you are at the clinic

Thank you for the replies, I would say it's most of the feed she throws up. I expect her to want her next feed earlier too but she cries for it dead on 3 hours after her last feed :? (Which is the norm) I see the HV next on Thurs so I will mention it, but if it happens before then I will phone her.

Well it's beginning to be a daily occurance now, last night she pulled away from the breast halfway through her feed and threw up everywhere..it was coming our her mouth, her nose and she had a very runny nappy at the same time..not fun at 11:30pm at night! She had been really clingy all day, screaming if I put her down and had bad nappies that went through to her clothes. She didn't have a temp..She's better today and touch wood hasn't been sick. I don't know what to do..

I would speak to the HV hun as it sounds like how Arianna was when she was little and it turned out to be reflux.... it's nothing to worry about tho, they will prob just give her some gavescon to settle her little tum-tum

awww poppy i no exactly how you feel. Its horrid when it comes out of their nose :(

Ky use to vomit nearly after every feed. He's getting better but a day doesnt go by where he doesnt bring up something. Usually after a bottel and ive winded him i put him down for about 15/20mins then carry him round on my shoulder he usually does another massive burp. The vomiting does slow down if all their wind is up.

since leahs been born shes thrown up 4 times...... i was actually worried she wasnt being sick enough cos i thought they were meant to throw up at least 5 times a day!!

5 times?? I couldn't cope if Ella threw up 5 times a day..nor would my washing machine!

Touch wood no projectile incidents today, but there's still time..I see the HV tomorrow so will mention it. Mum seems to think it could be bad wind, she brings her knees up to her belly and lets out a really high pitched scream so have been giving baby Infacol before feeds. Poor thing..it's heartbreaking when she's in pain and there's nothing I can do :(
