Went to town today and said to paris here's a fiver choose something nice from woolies!

Her response - "is that it?"
My response - nowt then

Mine are the same....unless it's the latest computer or the best trainers etc they think it's nothing to be thankful for. I remember being over the moon if I got 10p when the ice cream van came around as a kid, ummm 10 of those minty blue chewy things....heaven!!

Me and my brother used to get 20p each to go down the shop with and come back with a bag of 20 x penny sweets. Those were the days :( don't think you can even get penny sweets anymore :(

You can actually. My mum was a single mum for 6 years (before her and Dad got back together) and because she was so broke, i used to get 20p the odd time- that's 10p for a Mini Milk and 10p for 10 1p sweeties :D

My DD said to me yesterday from the back of the car after being in boots getting the last of the baby bits,
" mum is there anything i can do chore wise around the house to earn £2 a week as i would really like some new pj's"
I was like i'm sure i can find you something to do to earn your money but where have you seen jammies for £2 she said she haddn't but she would save up,

Bless her,

Oh and as for "old time sweeties" www.quarterof.com sell the best sweets AND they deliver

that would have been my response also - little shites! :x give them a yard and they want a fooking mile

I'd have said the same. I would have thought £5 was a lot for a kid, but maybe I'm out of touch. (I was quite surprised when my sister said that my 5 year old niece was getting a fiver a week pocket money. In her shoes I'd have been giving her a pound a week, but p'raps I'm wrong.)

I used to get £2.50 a week when we started getting pocket money. It wasn't much but was just enough for a magazine every so often and a couple of mars bars or ice lollys, and I'd really appreciate it :) then I'd do the washing up or clean the car for extra money if there was something I wanted that cost more :)

Jess is exactly the same. Shes so embarrsing! Everything everyone gave her for her birthday she pulled her face at, in front of them to. I could of killed her. Next door bought her an mp3 player and her response was ' I've already got one of them' No tact!
