you've inspired me to try a new routine

so we bathed at 6, fed at 6.30, fed straight after and finally managed to put him down in the cot about 8. usually i let him fall asleep on me but he was so tired i thought id give it a go at self settling and with a few dummy put ins and hand on his chest hes been sound asleep since.

if hes still asleep at 11pm im gonna try dream feed

wish me luck !

wish me luck too!!! AJ is currently in his moses basket upstairs asleep after a 6pm bath and 7pm feed he was down by 8:15pm!!!! Do you feel hard to be optimistic though? I expect him to wake at any point. lol

haha i keep thinking max is gonna wake up but weve done an hour and he seems sparko!

every night i think ' THIS IS THE NIGHT'

and it never is!

Good luck sweetie. I hope it works for you.

I never ever thought I'd get her in bed before 9.

I have a zonko Tilly and have watched the girl with the dragon tattoo tonight in my free time lol.

P.s Leanne- I haven't forgotten about you.

Ps, I think to be successful your day has to follow a certain pattern to encourage baby to sleep then.

I.e they have to eat enough and have had the right amount of sleep in the day to help them sleep at night

This really does work girls!! Theo has been going down and self settling since 6 weeks with this routine!! :) they will do it so stick at it! I am so pleased all our babies are starting to calm down a bit and sleep :) xxx

Well it was goin too well! Watched a whole film (Attack the Block-lol so random)
He naturally woke at 11 so I thought brilliant what a good boy! Daddy was feeding him and suddnely max projectile womited everywhere! Soaked himself soaked daddy and soaked the sofa

So changed his clothes, he was then sick again. So changed his clothes again and he started smiling at me and I thought ohh nooo he's gonna stay awake !

Gave him the remainder of the bottle he was having (not much left) and read him a story and luckily he's now asleep on my lap.

I'm not holding out much hope for a good night!

Same as always :(

That's two different routines I've tried now. Think I'm just gonna have to wait til he's ready to do it and right now I just don't think he is!

Xxx

we had a bad night too but think we messed him up. He normally has a feed at 10 so we went up and he was still sparko. he stirred when we went in so we got him up and fed him. He went back down around 11ish then woke at 12:15. We gave him a cuddle and put him down (think he would have got up for his feed then not 10). Went back to sleep and woke at 3 for another feed cos he had his other one at 10 then woke for his normal at 7. Tonight we are gonna get him down the same but let him wake for a feed and tell us when hes hungry. x

most babies try to get into a routine of thier own!! when alfie was firs bornn th nights were horrendous with him not settling properly until after midnight although he would sleep through until 6 or 7 but i was exhausted all the time with the battle of getting him to settle after about week two is feeds were getting earlier to 8.30 and then he would deep sleep and i would dream feed him bout 11 but he would wake in the nite for feed

now we have pj on, sleeping bag on, and bottle all ready for 7.30 i feed him in th living room and put him down in his cot awake at about 8 and he generally sleeps til 3 or 4 goes back down within 30 mins and sleeps til 7 and im hoping as he gets a little older he will eventually drop that bottle in the nite

most importantly i dont feel exhausted all the time as me and oh take it in turns doing the night feeds so at least we are both a full nights sleep in rotation xxx

i just dont know when max will go through, i still think he needs the night feeds to be honest!

i wish my and the oh could swap doing the night feeds, would make everything alot easier :(

I suggest you continue to try a routine and gradually you will find that they donot need the night feed especially if they have had enough milk during the day. My lo slept through from 7 1/2 weeks but if I have a hectic day and he hasn't had 6 180ml bottles during the day, I know he will wake. Give it time, it will work soon :)
