Hey all. Just need some advice. My little girl is a great little sleeper but at naptime she won't sleep unless I remove her books and toys from her room... otherwise she'd just play, she hadn't been a problem for night time however, tonight I heard her moving around in her room and sure enough she had got up and got a book in her bed. She doesn't leave the room but she isn't sleeping either unless everything is out of the room.

I follow Supernanny but her rules only tells you what to do if the kid leaves the room. I don't like taking the stuff out as like to have trust there. So, any tips? At nap time we had left her be but she didn't actually nap... at bedtime should I leave her be and trust she'll get herself to sleep or should I be proactive?

Her bedtime routine is, dinner, nappy change, pyjamas, watch the clangers, clean teeth, kisses and cuddles for daddy and brother, upstairs, read a story, kiss goodnight and leave.

Personally if all she is doing is playing with some toys/books and is not getting too hyper I'd leave her to it! Might just be her way of winding down. If she starts getting really loud I'd go in and pip her back in bed and just tell her it's quiet time for sleep. Keep doing that til she falls asleep! X

I agree with above. My little girl is 18 months and she will potter around reading her books or playing with her toys once I've put her to bed. She then gets back into bed and falls asleep once she is done. I'd leave her be if she's happy and quiet.

Thanks all. I don't mind leaving her so much, it is just quite frustrating. I am an anxious person and can't relax myself until I know the kids are asleep.

I left her to it at nap time and she didn't sleep a wink :wall2:, my husband even took the rocking chair out of her room which I didn't really approve of him doing.

I am seeing the Health Visitor regarding a separate issue in a week so will ask for her advice then too.

Just let her stay awake my dd stopped napping super early and she was fine. Just didn't want to miss anything lol my second still sleeps at almost 4!! Every kids different xx

Thanks for all the advice. I am still feeling a bit wound up hearing her pound around her room and feeling very concerned with the lighter evenings approaching. I think I am going to move her bedtime back as it is pretty early at 6-630pm, so going to shift it to 6:30-7pm and see if that helps. Argh. I just wish I could relax and ignore it all.
