Sticky Eye

Maia has had a sticky eye now for about 3 days but this morning they are both pretty bad, she started with a cold yesterday too.

Should i take her to see the Dr?

Also is there anything I can do in the meantime till Monday?

Cool Boiled water, breastmilk if your breastfeeding is supposed to work.

It may be part of her cold as when i have a cold my eyes can stream. If your concerned tho hun just pop along to the docs to get it checked out.

Thanks Charlie, probably should have mentioned that I started the cool boiled water and breastmilk last week when it first started but its much worse this morning.

Nope not much else if you are doing that already. Massage the tear duct regularly if it is sticky eye.

Sounds like it might be something more than that now though. Galen had conjunctivitus that started off as sticky eye, took eye drops to clear it. Then had really bad sticky eye in the other eye and in the end we got some ointment for that. However with 10 days of cleaning 5 times a day and breastmilk and ointment it got better. It only actually stopped gunking up about 2 months later though. But we could manage it with regular cleaning as it was only the tear duct blocked up.

Go with cleaning it lots and squeeze breastmilk straight from your nipple if you can. Sort of take aim and squirt Better that using cotton wool to apply the milk.
