Do you still need to wind/burp a BF baby? xx

Not a silly question hun! Lots of people seem to think you dont need to wind BF babies. You should wind them but some people find they may be less windy as there are obviously no air bubbles in your (.Y.) s Hebe was always good at burping for me :)

That's what I was thinking, about boobs not having air bubbles  Thanks for answering though, now I know I do need to :) xx

They also say they dont get colic but both mine went through a 'colicy' stage.

Toby's burps are loud and manly  Early on when they find it hard to keep up with the fast flow they can take in lots of air. We were at a friend's house yesterday and Toby burped really loudly... Sam always says burp when he does one so I said 'Sam, what was that noise?' and he said 'mummy... fart'

Hebe used to trump like a bloke....so funny when this tiny bundle literally turns over in her basket and goes 'PARP!'

Another one...

Whilst pregnant I'm meant to avoid alcohol and unpastuerised cheese and rare steak etc. OH asked me last night if I still have to avoid those foods when BFing, and I didn't know the answer. I said I know I have to avoid alcohol, but I think those foods are okay once bubs is born because they're more a danger to unborn babies due to supressed immune system when pregnant. Am I right? Or do I still need to avoid them? xx

And another one.

In a book I read (31 Dream Street) one of the characters fell asleep while BFing her baby on the sofa and suffocated him to death. I've also just seen another news story about a BFing mother suffocating her baby by falling asleep Bfing on a plane. Since I read it in the book I have been really terrified of it happening to me. And now this news story has me even more freaked. How can I get it out my head/stop being so paranoid about it? xx

You can eat normally when BFing and drink in moderation. If you are sober enough to drive you are ok to BF. You may find a food tha doesnt agree with you LO but that doesnt always happen.

The stories of mums suffocating babies as they BF them usually arent as simple as they seem. On a plane in a tiny confined space is completely different to laying in your bed taking the correct co-sleeping precautions. You should look in to co-sleeping for guidelines and apply them when BFing in bed :)

I just can't get it out of my head. I'll definitely research those guidelines though :) xx
