Hiya,

I have been thinking of stopping sterilising bowls and spoons in the next couple of weeks but I am a little nervous, what do you think? I'll go with the majority vote.

I've voted stop, I never sterilised Jack's bowls and spoons, only ever his bottles :)

i never sterlisied bottles or spoons either!!!

me neither....I've stopped sterilising water/juice cups too....tbh...the things that come out my dishwasher are far cleaner than the stuff lil miss sees fit to shove in her mouth atm :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I went to a HV run session about weaning last week and she said there's no need to sterilise bowls and spoons, just bottles :)

I used to sterilise spoons but gave up on that when he was getting through 2 at a time. As squig said... if Ryan sees fit to chew shoelaces and remote controls, whatever has been washed will be fine cos nothing else that goes in his mouth gets sterilised.

I never sterilised Dan's bowls and spoons although I didn't start weaning until nearly 6 months. I sterilised all his bottles and dummy's until a year though. Don't know why I bothered when he used to pick them off the floor and put them straight back in his mouth!

The day I watched Mhairi stroll up (in her walker) to the dog, spit her dummy out onto said dogs back, pick it up and stick it back in her mouth was the day I stopped sterilising allllllll together! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Never sterilised bowls or spoons!

Hiya,

Ok then, it looks like I am going to stop steralising bowls and spoons. It's going to be hard, but I will stop on Friday. That is when Adam is 26 weeks old.

Thanks ladies. x

I've given up all sterilising. There seems no point as his toys are chewed and sucked all day and they go on the floor and everywhere.

I have a friend who's just come bac from america and she said they never sterilise anything over there, even from birth.

if u use bottles still do them, but dont bother with bowls n spoons n teethers. at 3 or 4 months melissa was putting toys in her mouth at baby group- which had not only been in other babies' mouths but also kicked around the floor, etc, and picked up by toddlers who mightve had their hands everywhere! and that never harmed her, so i didnt see the point!
