Hello  I have just got my BFP and sort of feel like what now? haahaa I have booked in with the doctors on monday but im not looking foward to it! I could only get in with the doctor I hate!! has anyone been to the drs already? what do they ask/do? I dont want to get too excited just incase! but god its hard!!
Thanks for reading xx

Congrats! :pompom:

I went to the doc and she just told me due date, to avoid certain foods and then sent me to reception to arrange booking in appointment with mw. Not much but glad I went :)

Xxx

I already booked my miswife for a few weeks but have drs today.....I got a few things Im worried about. I think they will just refer you to midwife

she will ask you how you are feeling, work out your due date and basically give you a little induction to pregnancy. You will also get a pregnancy bible (book) telling you everything you need to know and what to expect throughout your pregnancy and even benefits you can claim and information about after birth. You will also receive a maternity folder that will include everything to do with your pregnancy in and all your private information, do not loose this folder as you will need it for all your scans! and wont be seen without it. The midwife will book you in for your blood tests and take urine samples. She will ask you what hospital you would like to give birth at as some don't have as many facilities such as giving you the opportunity to have a water birth. x

Seems to be different from practice to practice and area to area. I made an app with my Doc who was useless and looked at me as if I had two heads. She told to make an appointment with the midwife. My booking in appointment isn't even until 08/06 now.

I'd ring the receptionist just to get the low down on what you are meant to do and who you are meant to see. At least that way you'll get the heads up.

The only leaflet I got was one on the tests I'll get at booking in appointment. Does seem to be different everywhere.

Ninja mine is on the 6th :)

Thanks Olive, puts my mind at rest a little. Doc was horrible when I went and really put me off. So I'm probably more down about it than I should be.

Totally forgot to say WELCOME MissB :wave:so sorry I omitted that.

Hey missb welcome and congrats, my experience my doc was useless but he did refer me to mw and for nuchal scan and honestly don't think I'll see him much throughout as I mw takes over! They prob won't do any further tests, just take dates, general info about you I.e do you drink/smoke give you an overview of what to avoid and expect! But good luck and wishing you a healthy 9 months Xx
