millie seems 2 be ok with a bottle (as long as its not me holding it lol!)

we gonna buy the equipment for expressing, however would feel more confident about leaving her if i left her babysitters (my parents haha) with some formula as back-up in case shes still hungry or the breastmilk gets spilled or burnt or something.

those of u who combine, which type of milk did ur babies adapt 2 the best? (in other words, which actually is closest 2 breastmilk?)

also, how much milk is one feed for a 4-month-old/15-pound baby? how many mls?

thanx in advance! x

When I first started leaving Austin I gave my mum & MIL a carton of Cow & Gate simply because it's ready made up, lasts for ages & was the one in the shop. Neither of them ever had to use it in the end.

I've just started giving him formula instead of EBM because I was finding expressing difficult, I give him the Hipp Organic Stage 1 milk, because it's organic & my sister recommended it.

Austin's 6 months but about 17lb and he usually has between 4oz & 6oz in one feed. I usually make up a 6oz bottle & let him stop when he's had enough.

I use the ready made cartons and used SMA Gold to start with but it gave him a bit of constipation :| so I have swapped to the Cow and Gate packs (green cartons) and he's been fine on them :)

Ryans only 2 months and has about 4 or 5 oz.

Mum's from my todller group who breast feed and give some formula all use Aptmil cos they were told by their midwives that it was the closest to breast milk.

I use Aptimil as I was also told that it was the closest to breastmilk. You can get ready made cartons as well as the powder. I give Poppy 7 scoops to 7 fl oz of water.

they all claimto be the closest to breastmilk but in terms of nutrition there is no difference between the different formulas. It seems that different babies have different preferences so I personally would just get a ready made formula carton and if she doesn't seem to settle on it, try a different one.

I am giving Aptamil. First I gave Aptamil 1, but now I am on Aptamil Easy Digest. He had a bit of wind with the first one, but Easy Digest claims to be the closest possible. Even baby poo is the same colour as from the breastmilk.

where can you get Aptmil from as i've not seen it in the shops (not that i've really looked that hard at them!!)

Annem: Its in all large supermarkets (maybe in some smaller versions too).
