Ok so my husband has been working 12 hour nights for a few years and was planning on changing his job to a day job in a differen company. What we wanted to know was will he entitled to the 2 week paid paternity pay in the new company even if he's only been there a couple of months? Hubby thinks he'll be allowed the 2 weeks but not have the pay cos he won't have been there long enough? I'm sure he's wrong though?

Any help would be great xx

My understanding is that all Dad's are legally entitled to 2 weeks paternity without pay and being paid is down to the individual company - regardless of how long you have worked there. Some employers wont pay you even if you've been there years - they just give the time without pay. :)

you need to check with the new employer but I'd guess they'd like someone there for a certain amount of time.

Thanks for that merv's mum, have had a read and will just have to wait and see what the new company offers that's all xx
