Had Oliver at the hospital this afternoon. He went for the breath holding attacks that he's been having. He went to the Dr last week because the attacks became a lot more frequent and so the Dr revered him to the hospital about it.
So the Dr there was really nice. Wanted him weighed and to have his height measured. Of course he wasn't happy about being taken away from the play area and so he performed on cue and held his breath for the nurse and the Dr.
Anyway, we had a good chat with the Dr there, and he thinks it is just basically breath holding attacks that toddlers get. And by the sounds of it they are reaching a peak and they should start to reduce down and then stop altogether.
He picked up on his speech, or lack of speech as the case is. So because of that he's referred him to speech therapy. And also, because speech problems may be due to hearing problems, he's been referred to the hearing clinic too.
And also, because of the potential peanut allergy he might have, the Dr has referred him to the allergy clinic!
And we have to take him back to the paeds at the hospital in 3 months time, for a follow up appointment.
So, all in all it's been a pretty productive afternoon. I'm glad they're taking seriously his chances of maybe having a peanut allergy. I need to know one way or another if he does have an allergy. If we does, we can manage it, if he doesn't then, well it's a huge weight off our mind.
And as for the speech, well that's just a beneficial extra in some ways. But I have been worried about his speech for a while. He says such few words and he'll be 2 in June.
