I havent had any. I feel like I'm going to be very ill prepared for labour! All I have had is some mild period pains during the last week or two. Did anyone else not have any BH? And if so, how was your labour?? I know there's time yet, but everyone's always talking about them on here - perhaps I just feel left out :rotfl:

i never had 1!
i suppose i shouldnt moan

i dont think anything can really prepare you for labour, ok it hurts but you know at the end of it you will meet your baby and thats what gets you through

I didn't notice any either until the final couple of weeks of pregnancy. Only know now after going through labour that they were painless contractions! I think I may have had them earlier but assumed it was just baby moving around causing pushing pressure.
Try not to worry hun, I'm sure you'll be well prepared when the time comes!

I never really got them. Once or twice but tbh they are not something you *need* to experience. You may have had them and not really noticed.

FWIW I had an 11 hour labour (2 days of latent labour also) and a 34 minute second stage. Straightforward first birth :)

I didn't get any either..... earlier on in the pregnancy (around the 20 weeks mark) my tummy went tight a few times but then it stopped and I didn't get anything else.

Sounds like me and sherlock had identical labours..... I also had a two day latent phase follwed by an 11 hour labour and IMO I don't think I missed out on having BH. Yes it hurt, but no where near as much as I thought it was going to hurt.... I was actually suprised at the pain because I thought it was going to be much much worse. I had constant contractions (ie no sleep) for 3 whole nights and I couldn't eat anything for three days either because I was being sick all the time so the only problem I had was exhaustion by the time it came to pushing!!

If i hadn't had the two days latent phase I would have found it quite easy.

You dont tend to get them in your first pregnancy so much and they dont hurt.

I only had them in the week before i gave birth, so there is time left for you yet.
They annoyed me more than anything, i went to a christening a few days before i gave birth and we had to sit on these awful plastic chairs in church well it set of the BHs and i sat squirming throughout the ceremony :?

I gave birth 16.5 hrs after my waters broke (first sign things were happening for me).
I had a very straightforward labour.

ETA - BHs did not prepare me for the pain of contractions, to me they were completely different.

I never had them with my first 3 babies! I only got them the last time! You will be fine hun!

ok...feel reassured now. thanks guys. I suppose I shouldnt moan about not having pain!!

I remeber getting a few around the middle of prenancy but that was it. They felt nothing like labour anyway.

i never had BH. i had teeny tiny tightenings which i thought could possibley be, but nothing like others describe, i hardly noticed them. and only got them after 38 weeks anyway. my labour was very short for a first labour, i had a homebirth and from the MW getting to my house when i was 5cm dilated which was about 1.30pm, my baby was born at 4.45pm. i had been getting contractions since the nite before but they were easy to cope with. i was ghd'ing my hair and doing my make-up at 11am (2 hours before i was 5cm dilated!) so i dont think lack of BH's means u will struggle with labour. hope that reassures you

I dont remember having any BH, my labour was induced but was ok i guess :rotfl: Dont worry about it

Try some raspberry leaf tea, I just had my first cup and swear I have had some BH's since........feels like strong baby movements at the bottom of my bump, and they were quite regular and lasted maybe 5 mins!

When I mentioned braxton hicks to my Mum, who had 4 children, she had never heard of them. All her labours were fairly quick.
They are nothing like real contractions - just tightenings but not painful. You could have had them without noticing. Either way I wouldn't worry
