Medela swing breast pump

Hi ladies
My 7 day old son is being ebf and doing really well. (My nips still pretty sore but a lot better than before) but he is thriving so I'm delighted Ive stuck with it. I will be hoping to express some milk in a few weeks time to have a small supply in fridge for oh in case he's hungry when I pop out (don't want to be rushing out, panicking, then rushing back)
I think I heard the lady in my breastfeeding class recommend the medela swing breast pump. Have any of you ladies used it and can you vouch for it? I haven't had the time to research myself, would like others opinions on it before I purchase.

I used it for 5+ times a day everyday for almost 6 months. It was absolutely brilliant! The suction didn't deteriorate over time which can on some pumps & it has multipe settings so you can find what's most comfortable for you. It can be mains or battery operated so you can take it with you if you are out for the evening. I would highly recommend!

Congrats & getting to 1 week ebfing by the day! That's an achievement no fellow bfer can deny

Thanks so much Saralouise I think I'll go ahead with it so. Am actually going to get it second hand as there are a lot of people that have barely used ones for sale. Hoping to get out to the shops today so plan on picking up a steriliser so I'll be good to go. Are there specific bottles that are any better for breastfed babies m? God I feel so clueless here! They're brilliant I bought one to use when expressing for my preemie, my milk didn't last long as I never got chance to try and feed baby and I wasn't able to hold him for a while either which didn't help. Mine didn't really get much use but was great when I was using it. Special care had a medela and that was good so I wanted the same. It has a 2 phase suction setting that mimics how a baby feeds to help maintain supply. I think my supply would have lasted longer if I'd had more contact with baby. I tried tommee tippee electric and all the milk went up into the electric bit it had only been used twice!! this has happened to lots of people ( I found out when I googled it) that went straight in the bin. Medela is one of the more expensive ones but well worth the money. I hope that helps x

Bottles wise it just depends on the baby usually.

Strangely I found the medela bottles to be really terrible, so we used tommee tippees as they seem to be most "boob" shaped ifykwim x

I have this pump and had no problems with it either. Straightforward to use and easy assemble etc. I didn't get on with the bottle it came with so I either freeze the milk I express or pour into a tomme tippe bottle to feed LO with if he has a bottle xx

I got this second hand and it's brilliant. Don't use the bottle as mine didn't have the teat. I use cheap avent ones and they seem fine.

I used a avent pump and it was ok for me but a friend found it brilliant. Bottle wise my lo doesn't like any of them and has never had a full feed from one. He did take half a feed out of one called a minijumi which has a flesh coloured teat and the most nipple like one I've got.

Well done on getting to one week of ebf - it gets easier and easier and is amazing )) xx
