maternity leave and work being a pain!

So here is the rant! I started working for them in jan and got preg some time in feb, ive worked the dates out etc and i think i qualify for smp. So when i was 25 weeks i handed in my letter stating when i was leaving, going back and that i wanted a written response within 28 days stating if i was entitled to smp and the amounts etc. Im now 35 weeks and had no letter back and had no flippin answers! Im due to start my leave and pay in 2 weeks and nobody will tell me what im getting!! Ive been in so many times to see them (on sick leave) i rang her last week and said when i come in friday for my wages i want the letter and info on my smp, she said it would be there for me. So went in and oh what a suprise, shes out for the day!! If im not entitled to it i need to be applying for ma , other wise im gonna have to wait weeks before i get any money and i have bills to pay! Its really stressing me out! Am going to ring again this evening and ask her if she has sorted it but if no luck, what can i do??? this should have been sorted ages ago! Xx

Is your employer large enough to have an HR dept, if so you need to speak with them, if not I suggest speaking to your managers manager at the very least, if not higher. If you don't get any joy and you aren't in a union, call ACAS for advice. This is just what you dot need at this stage! x

I had same probs hun, I didnt qualify for SMP as missed out by a week or so and it was only when i started anuual leave 2 weeks before supposed due date that i was told they cant pay me and they will send out all the forms for MA. Well i got the letters on a tuesday morning and that n ight went into labour a week early and wasnt even at home for nearly 3 weeks. Eventually i took what i needed to the JC and then had to add more stuff in the end it took til baby was like 8 weeks to get it all srted and they backdated it.
Hope it gets sorted for you all i casn say is maybe go staright to payroll x

Its only a family run pub. Ive spoke to the owner and the manageress!! Sorry to sound dumb but who are the acas? X

I will be absolutly furious if this happens, i will actually leave the job! Really starting to p me off! Rang them again this evening and apparently accountant is on hol till mon, they will sort it then! Feels like they keep putting it off!!

I'm not sure but dont u have to have been employed by a company when ur 7 weeks pregnant to get smp which I think.u were u need to know because if not u need the form to take into the jobcentre to claim maternity allowance
