the mother and baby group that my communtiy hv's do has just finished, but we have all found a new one.

we also meet every tuesday in the pub for lunch (well i plan to every other tuesday - too expensive otherwise! lol), then we all treck to the clinic to get the babies weighed.

my week tends to go like this:

monday - stay at home and catch up with housework. maybe walk to my mums if i fancy it.
tuesday - pub lunch, then clinic at 3 ish
wednesday - baby massage at 11 - 12. stay and chat for an hour! lol my sis then comes round when she has finished school.
thursday - mum and baby lunch group. £1.50 for food and as much hot drinks as i can handle (the lunch is huge as well!!)
friday - tend to have friends over, or i a nice lazy day.

sat and sunday we take week by week.

Im trying to find a mum and baby swimming group at the mo :)

plus, been told of another group starting on a thursday morning close to the lunch group... may start that soon as well :)

i try and get to one everyday! just for the free drink and biscuit

i got details for most of mine from my hv. the main one i have started going to is a sure start run place.

or try www.mumsnet.com. there are a few on here for different areas.

im lucky, a few of my friends have had babies at the same time. they recomended places for me :)

if i really tried i could get to one every morning and evening all week. but then i wouldn't get any house work done. mmm...on second thoughts! :rotfl:

Aw I only just saw this.
I love baby groups!

Have a great time, I would always say to TELL a couple of people it's your first time. It's hard to know who's new if it's a busy group, but if I know someone's new I always try and talk to them if I know.

Ask someone a few nice questions about their child, like how old they are etc, its easy to start a conversation about the kids...you will have something in common. :)

Hi Louise, I was like you whan my eldest was a baby, all my friends deserted me (well they wernt real friends then were they!) and I didnt have any family around me, it was very lonely and the days just seemed to blend into eachother with nothing going on to break up the week. Then I started a local mother and baby group and it was fab! I was very shy at first as I thought they would look down thier noses at me being a young mother (17) but I couldnt have been more wrong and there was a girl there about my age with a baby boy the same age as my baby and we became instant best friends and supported eachother through all sorts of things over the years! Shes still one of my closest friends.

I really really recomend it, youve got nothing to lose and you could find that you make a whole heap of new friends, plus your little one will love it and being socialised at a young age makes it easier for them to make friends when they start school etc.
