hey, i want to know if its possible for soemthing to be in your history if you havent actually looked at it?

i know popups etc can be in your computer history.. but what if some word has been searched on google.. then it says the site had been viewed 5 times?

then in your computer history.. the search for the same site had come up and that 3 items had been viewed on there. and a peson is denying they ahve searched the word.. and then viewed the site.

is it possible that they are telling the truth.. and some how a hacker has done it.. or does ur computer only store what you have searched and clicked on..

sorry if this makes no sence lol

it seems incredibly unlikely that they (or someone else) haven't viewed the site hon...  my knowledge of computers ain't bad and although my knowledge of hacking is nil  i can't see any way that something in your history could be there without someone sitting at your machine and viewing it...

xx

Very very unlikely, a virus/spyware wouldnt log in your google search history. Sounds like someone is telling porkies.

I agree :?

complete and utter porkies hun

Why would someone hack into your machine and then use it surf the internet.

Have a look around your temp internet files too, it should show you the date and time the sites were visited.

Open IE browser

No, even if something did visit sites it wouldnt be through google and only visited once.

I remember a convo with my ex swearing blind hadnt typed in "naughty nuns" into google

Anything in your history is a site that has been accessed by your browser. Even if someone was stealing your connection remotely the sites that they visited would only be recorded in their browser on their machine. So unless a burglar has entered your house and used your machine for surfing, it is most likely that if has been clicked on by a member of your family (or anyone else you have let use your computer).

You should tell whoever it is that if they are looking at sites that they shouldn't (for whatever reason), they should have the decency to delete their browsing history like normal people do who are trying to hide something

ohh thats good Misslarue i didnt know that!

i wana know whos been looking at something they shouldnt have been!?

i did this.. and the sites wernt there.. took me 2 hrs to go through all the temp files.. they were only there from when i accessed them yesterday and after i had accessed them 2 other sites came up in the temp files that i hadnt browsed :S im confused.. lol

If your internet is wireless and not a secure connection, with a password etc then other people within wireless range can look up what you've been doing and use your internet. My laptop regularly connects to one of my neighbours internet connections as they have no password, it wouldnt take much for us to see what they were doing, get all bank passwords and detials etc, BUT i'm 99% sure that whatever i do on theres is not in their history or anything like that, its in my laptops.

You can look up who's connected to the internet at any point and it'll tell you what machine they're using but thats as far as my investigation has got, i should really find out whos internet it is and tell them.

Google will save any word you type, but it doesnt make them up. If its in temp files but not history then chances are someones deleted the history. But all you have to do it type google.com (or co.uk or whatever) in to your browser and it usually comes up with a list a recently used search terms even if you dont have the list on google. Just tried and even if temp files and history are deleted it'll still show you the search terms typed this way.

how can 2 other sites come up on my historty saying they have bn viewed by me when i havent viewed them?

They cant, they must have been viewed by someone on your computer

i agree too. temp files can be deleted too, maybe he done them as well as your history????

no you dont understand....

i have searched something.. and it says on my history when i searched that site that i entered 2 otehr sites and viewed things on those sites..pictures and videos. and I.. ME I didnt.. so what im asking is how can it show up on my history that i have? how can it show up on my temp files that i have? when i havent..

i think it may be a virus hun...im sure some of these porn sites have them hooked into them...takes you to other sites as pop ups and things like that.

Id get a really good antivirus on it and let it run a scan on your system...if it is that then it should nuke it :) hope you get to the bottom of it

If they were only available from yesterday then all the previous ones have obviously been deleted. The temp internet files record every site visited with times and dates. There is also a list of internet searches in the registry. But I wouldn't recommend searching through it unless you are quite computer savvy as you can cause a whole load of trouble. (And I am speaking from experience!)

Just to add............porn pop ups are a nightmare. The temp files will record them, even if they pop up without anyone 'clicking' the site. Doesn't necessary mean that someone has deliberately visited the site in question. Although obviously someone would have looked at some kind of porn site for these pop ups to appear. You obviously don't get porn pop ups when browsing the BBC! As for typing in google, someone would have to physically type the text in.
