I know your supposed to put on about 30lbs when pregnant but I was wondering if being slightly underweight when you got pregnant meanyou put on more than the 30lbs your suppost to in pregnancy?
I'm only 13 weeks you see and i've already put on 14lb (a stone).
Is that normal?
How much has everyone else put on at this stage?
If its heathly then I'm not worried I was just starting to wonder if it was normal?

everyones different. a stone by 13 weeks does seem a bit steep though. But if midwife seems ok with it then it must be fine.

i put my weight on in the first and second trimester. Try not to worry. Mention your concernsto your midwife who may suggest something.

Hi hun, the last time I weighed myself at about 20 weeks I had put on a stone and a half!

So I really would not worry, different people are inclined to put on different amounts of weight and in different places.

My midwife said they will always tell you if they think you are putting on too much/not enough weight.

Im sure its totally fine

Yea I think I will.
I was only 7 and half stone when I got pregnant though so that would make me a little underweight to start with so i'm wondering if that was the reason I don't know :?
I'll ask my midewife though just in case though.
How much is normal for this stage?

They say 2-4lb is supposed to be normal for the end of the first tri, but every person is different. Last time I put on nearly 4 stone and put on over 7lb in the first tri. This time I weigh less than I did at the start. Every pregnancy is different. If you were underweight to begin with then I wouldn't worry about it

I don't know if it's normal or not but I also weighed about 7 1/2 stone before preg and now I weigh just over 8 1/2, can't really see where i've put it on, but I think it might be my boobs :rotfl:
My midwife hasn't weighed me at all yet- just told me my bmi was 'just' ok :|
Maybe you put on a bit more if you're small to start with??
jo

ive lost 2lbs now throughout my pregnancy... and i eat like a swine

I have only gained 4lbs up till now but i was overweight to start with so my body doesn't need to store any fat. Theres plenty already. With my first baby i was normal weight to begin with and i gained it fast in the first 6 months then it slowed down. Think i gained about 3 stone!

i have put on 9 lbs so far but i was the upper end of a normal bmi before i started. i've heard its perfectly natural to put on extra weight if you were smaller before you were pregnant as it is the body storing and preparing for breastfeeding the baby.

when i went for my booking in appointment they weighed me so i was about 10 weeks. when i went for my blood tests at 15 weeks i had lost half a stone. when i went for my 20 week scan they said i had put on only half a pound but the baby is growing fine.
go the midwife again on the 5th October so i am hoping that have put some weight on !!!

Ah well I suppose that makes sense. I will be breastfeeding anyway (if everything goes as it should) so your probably right.
My sister said the same thing as well. :)
