Hellllloooooooo

Over the moon and at very early stages. I like my forums so it made sense to straight away join a pregnancy one.

Hopefully get a lot of help and advice and be able to support the good lady better. I'm counting on you guys to keep me well informed.

Thanks

Congratulations
When is babys due date?
There are group threads made trimesterly for the babies due month
Im in the october mummies thread
Most on here are women (99%+) but i believe theres a december mummies and daddy thread so guys do come on here too
So youll likely get to know your due month buddies as youll all be experiencing roughly the same stuff at the same time (not you directly of course lol)
Scans, midwife appts, starting to buy stuff, nursery, antenatal classes etc x

99%+ women....who better to keep me right lol. Thanks I'll check it all out.

Midwife appointment this week. Looks like the very start of May.

I've gone from thinking this wouldn't happen and possibly didn't want it to happen (due to finances) to the happiest guy going to when my wife gave me the news. 4 tests later I get happier with every result haha.

In terms on appts... Go to the scans
The actual midwife appts your wifes work will have to give time for
If youre lucky your employer will pay you to attend. If not i wouldnt waste your leave on going
Theyre dead basic. Mostly asking family history Qs. Checking wellbeing. Blood pressure and test urine etc
By all means go to the booking in appt but id say save leave to bolt onto your paternity cos youll have no input at them and its not exciting at all
Scans though definitely attend those

Youll get antenatal classes in the last trimester. Go to them and be a sponge. Youll learn loads from how to help and be equipped to know whats happening in labour, from pain meds to what could go wrong. How to bath a baby. Youll get advice from a health visitor on sick, poo, preventing cot death, feeding, dressing. Youll get to go and learn to help your wife with breastfeeding if she wants to try. And at some point you can tour the labour ward aswell
Theyre all worthwhile and usually theyre all evening and weekends xx

The poorest people manage to have babies and they get everything they need
Babies can be expensive but only if you want them to be
Loads of sales etc on to buy stuff nearly new or at a good discount. People will gift you things etc aswell
Theres never really a right time for a baby
So long as its loved and kept warm fed and clean and given the time of day - youll be a great dad x

Gail that's tremendous info, thank you.

Been putting this part of our life off long enough, with me just turning 36 it's defo the right time now I'd say.

Yeah and whilst age doesnt matter... Its nice knowing youll still be a young enough dad to run after your children and it not totally kill you x

How very true Gail. I'm guessing there will be a lot of running to be done.

Jenna thank you.
