I just gave Harry a bottle!

Well about an ounce of expressed milk!

Don't know what possessed me today apart from the fact he's been suffering with wind and we struggle everytime to get gripe water down him.

So thought I'd try expressing a bit and adding the gripe water to this and see how we went on. Anyhow he took to it brilliantly and it took him about 10 secs to down the lot!!

Not sure if I'm pleased or sad! He's now on my boob having a good feed.

He's 6 weeks now and I *think* I'd like to start expressing a little bit if only to get him used to a bottle. I know my mum said both me and my sister were terrible and wouldn't take a bottle do I am conscious of that

And at some point it would be nice to know I could go out and he'd be ok as his feed times are still so erratic

Do you think it's a good idea to give him gripe water this way? I'm so scared that he won't want me if he's had a bottle but I'm hoping that since its only a little we should be ok?

Yeah I'd introduce it to him in that way if he seems happy with it. My l/o was breastfed with the occasional bottle of ebm from birth to 4 months when I had to start him on medicated formula. I was glad that I'd given him the odd bottle so that I didn't have to battle with him when he switched to formula.
If he's going with the flow he's obviously happy enough hun x

yeah id say it would be fine to do it once in a while, Alyssa got a bit lazy tostart with but now shes figured out she likes boob best anyway so only has 3 or 4 bottles a day where she used to have a topup every feed, now its usually one or the other and she switches from bottle to boob perfectly fine

He'll be fine hun I'm sure. He's a good feeder at the breast isn't he? I doubt he'll have problems breastfeeding afterwards.

Could you have someone else feed him a bottle so it's not you doing it? So then he associates mammy = boobie?

Tor that's what I was thinking that when hubby is around he could do it so that he get to feed him a bit and then Harry still loves mummy's boobies! He is a good feeder at the boob

Not sure we'll do it everyday but I Think I might do it a few times as we're on holiday next week so hubby will be around more to help

sounds good hun, Alyssa takes a bottle much better for other ppl, when its me she insists on draining the boobs first then will take a bottle if shes still hungry, and she refuses to have a bottle if shes not hungry but very rarely refuses boob even if its just for comfort sucking lol

It's lovely bonding for dads. It was the one thing that made me happy when we couldn't bf was to watch daddy get covered in milk and sick
