I found this lovely forum after finding out im due a wee one after testing on Monday

I am absolutly shocked but delighted at the same time! Me and my boyfriend have been together six and a half years (I recently turned 24, him 26) and we are moving into our first house in four weeks (2 bedrooms THANK GOODNESS!)

This little one was not planned but I wouldn't change whats happened now for the world.

I have my first doctors appointment on Thursday morning and have no idea what to expect - What do they do? Just do a pregnancy test to make sure and book an appointment with the midwife?

welcome and congrats.

at my first doctors appointment he just did a pregnancy test to confirm it, tell me what i can/cannot eat etc, how to be healthy and then he told me to book to see the midwife on the way out

your first midwife appt needs a little time because she will go through all yours and your partners health history, she will work out your due date, weigh you and measure your height etc,
and then she'll tell you when your scan will be roughly.

she might even take blood, however i had my blood taken at the next appt.

Welcome and congratulations . My first docs appointment she basically said congrats and put it on my notes and said my due date. She also went through the foods you shouldn't eat then said to me to book in with the midwife at reception. They don't normally re-test you to confirm because home tests are so reliable these days. But it may be different depending on the area you live.
