Group B streptococcus screening

yer ive heard about it i will be getting a kit to be tested
manda xx

No, I did send off for the kit a long, long time ago but I never did it and it is too late now.

I did ask a MW about it and she said that in all honesty, unless you are displaying symptoms (ie, infections etc) then there is little point.

Did have a bit of a worry about this as well but as Debbie said if you are at risk or displaying symptoms they will test you and treat it.

I was gonna pay for a private test but after I spoke to my midwife I decided it would probably result in me having to give birth in hospital attached to an IV of antibiotics uneccessarily. Apparantly a high proportion of the population will test positive but very few will pass it onto baby during labour. If they think you are at risk (ie, waters breaking early, discharge etc ) they will test you and the midwives are trained to look for symptoms of it
