so , leland's turns 6 months this week , and ive only got 1 tin of his forumla left , and im debating whether to now go onto the follow on milk ? did u change ? what effect did it have on lil one ??

his also got the consultant this week for his 6 month check up , shall be asking her too , as my own dr wants to move him off gaviscon but his still very sick so im thinking another trial of comfort milk ? ( it didnt agree with him at 2 weeks but then not alot did i then found out !) , and if i was to try comfort milk should i try the number 2 ?

who changed there milk at 6 months ? and if u didnt , why didnt u ?

I didnt change his milk till 8 months as he was eating well and then I gave him cows milk at 8 months as he was having milk more as a wee drink than the main thing. He ate well at that age.

his a big milk drinker and not food eater , in a day he'll only have 1 half framage frais , half a pot of stage 1 jar , and maybe a slice of mango / pear or chew on a rusk , not alot of food at all tbh but im happy he still loves his milk ( 4-5 8oz bottles when his behaving and not on a milk strike)

i changed hannah at 6 months and it did make her eat more food as she isnt a very hungry child, she is still on it know and she is 3 next month, i have kept her on it because she doesnt like cows milk and she is a poor eater

Tescos sold off all there old stage2 C&G and thats from 9months so I will use it then or maybe before as HV said it is based on 3 months after weaning and as she started at 4 months that brings it down abit.

My HV said that if they are ok on stage 1 to just keep them on it. I def think that the formula they can cope with changes as they get older Ella was really unsettled on SMA at birth, so we changed her to C&G for a couple of months, then decided to change again and went back to SMA and she has been fine on it since then. The only thing is that comfort milks are thicker so may fill him up more (although I assume only as thick as Gaviscon make normal formula), my friend has just taken her 9 month old off easy digest as she was told it was filling him up too much and stopping him eating food!

My HV told me that I didn't need to change to follow on milk if he was still gaining weight and eating a balanced diet.

We changed about 3 weeks ago. One of the reasons we changed is that we could get it cheaper as DH works for Tesco and gets a staff discount on all follow on milk.

We changed from SMA White to Progress without any problems. If anything I would say that his nappies are a little more smelly and not as formed. He's on 7 month food now, so it could be just the bigger boy food that's doing that.

My DS still has Gaviscon in every bottle as when we tried to stop, his reflux became just as bad as before.

I changed James from SMA Gold to SMA progress at 6 months old. He loved his milk and it was a stuggle getting him to eat food so I thought the extra iron would do him good. For months he would spit out anything except weetabix and petit filous!
He was still having a bottle of sma progress first thing in the morning and last thing at night till almost 2!
Even now he drinks loads of cows milk.

Ive stuck religiously to comfort milk since ky was a very young age. but now hes fully weaned the sickness has calmed down alot (he still does the odd lovely smelly food boff now and again) and he doesnt suffer from colic he's moved onto cow and gate 3. he wasnt fused initially because it was too thin as he was use to thicker milk but we're slowly getting there (had to go back to slow teats! :wall: )

the reason i went to normal c & g 3 instead of comfort 2 was basically because i didnt think he needed the comfort milk anymore. he's been fine so far back on normal milk  waaaaay back on the cartons at night time! no making up midnight bottles from scratch half asleep! :cheer:
