I am going to take the boys to the seaside tomorrow or Friday :D

Is there anything else at brean except the beach? When its low tide is it still worth going?
I know Weston is only up the road, that might be my backup plan, even though the pier isn't there anymore :(

There's a leisure park there http://www.brean.com/

We're going there on Saturday with family, but have no idea what it's like. Booked with Tesco deals, otherwise the wristbands would be £19 each :talkhand:

Oh - forgot to add, the leisure park is actually free to get in, but if you want unlimited rides, then a wristband is needed :D

oh that looks great, I may go to the farm as the theme park might be a bit much as its just me and the 3 boys but the farm should be fine. Obvioulsy our main aim is to go to the beach for as long as possible but if they get bored or something I need a back up

Cheers for that!

the farm is a good day out and like you say weston is only up the rd, burnham on sea isnt very far either

i have to agree, for the money the leisure park is a bit pants, but the farm park is worth the visit.
If you go as far as you can in Brean there is a cafe with a small bird park which is nice if you like birds too.
We go to Brean but more for the dogs than the kids as the dogs are allowed on the beach and they have a fab time.
oh just one more thing, i dont think i have ever been when the tide is in :?

is the sea gonna be miiiiiiiles away then? And can you still park on the beach?

Yes you can park on the beach but the sea has always been a fair walk out in my experience.

I used to live kind of near Brean and it has got the big lesuire park.....I remembered my mum and dad taking me when I was little so I decided to go there last year in about April :o Never go there out of holiday season seriously......you will run back to your car with nightmares for a week! Its a very very strange place at the wrong time of year.
As for the beach and things I cant really remember but like someone else said there is Weston and Burnham near enough anyway, either that or you could go to Wookey Hole Caves and Cheddar Gorge =o) It may just be that I'm from there so It doesn't seem far but its only a hour drive at the most.

Thanks everyone, I think what I'm going to do is go to weston first, to the little man made beach, then go on donkeys and stuff, then when the tide comes in maybe drive to brean to get away from the crowds.

Kids are very excited!

Whooo hooooo

Leaving now!

Will post pics when I get back :D:D:D

OMG I'm knackered!

We had a great day though, it started really dull and windy but by about 2pm it was brightening up and got much warmer. Stay there 6 hours in the end, plus 2 hours each way in the car so you can see why I'm tired.

We stayed at weston all day in the end, cos there was loads of stuff to do, they played in the lagoon bit, rode the little train to the pier (which looks an absolute state, I know they are gonna fix it but it still a great big pile of mangled metal)
They rode donkeys, got pulled by a horse (they were riding in a carriage/fire engine thing) they spent hours building sandcastles and playing etc. We walked along the pier to eat ice cream and look at the diggers
In all a fab day out they loved every minute :D
Will post some pics tomorrow :)
