Yes, you can't pay people doing the same jobs differently! I thought it was illeagal but not sure

Its not illegal if they can justify it, only thing to bear in mind is were he found this info out from coz some people say things like that just to annoy people. Dunno if this is the case but has happened before!!

Pretty sure it's not illegal hun. I used to work as a recruitment consultant and we all had totally different salaries. At one point, I was on £19k and my friend, who was in our team in another office, was on £32k. Shite! But it happens

Now I'm in public sector, it's different as everyone's salary is graded and so every job role has a grade and you won't get people on different salaries iykwim.

Not illegal but should be kept to himself rather than bragging about it

Last year I was earning 18k but my colleague who did exactly the same job as me was only on 12k! It is legal but is usually due to differences in age/experience etc (the girl earning less than me was 18 years old whereas I am ten years older with far more work experience). But it is their discretion at the end of the day.

And, like what Esoames said, your salary really isn't something that should be discussed with other colleagues. It's just one of those things that isn't 'done'. x
