I'm thinking Alex could do with a trim. His hair is starting to get into his eyes.
I don't have a clue how to cut boys hair though.
How do you cut your son's hair? Do you do it yourself or take them to a hairdresser? At 12 months old how do you get them to sit still for a haircut?

Also - did you feel sad cutting theit hair for the first time. I love his hair - he's my little blonde fluffy-head! I don't really WANT to cut it

Either try and d it yourself when he is sleeping(can look a bit bowl cuttish)
Or take him to hair dressers. Bit of a hit and miss affair Cameron used to scream when i took him. Eventually my brother took him and managed a kind of half cut

i got a mobile hairdresser to come for aidan's first cut but since then i get the clippers out and shave his head lol. he looks like a little thug :rotfl:

I take Austin to the barbers. There's a lovely child-friendly one down the road from me, they've got a booster bit for the chair but if he wasn't happy of that he could have sat on my knee. I tried to trim his fringe when he was about 10 months and he screamed and wouldn't sit still, but when we went for his first hair cut at 11 months he was so well behaved! He had his third hair cut last Friday and messed around a bit but he was really tired so I think that was why.

I wouldn't dare do it myself, it only costs about £3.50 every couple of months and they're really quick.

I nearly cried the first time he had it cut, his hair had got so curly and gorgeous but I kept all his curls and he looked so much better afterwards. I still feel a little bit sad when he has it cut but only because he looks like a proper little boy with short hair, not my baby :)

I forgot to say, if he has a favourite toy or book bring that so that you can distract him if he gets upset. I usually kneel in front of the chair and point out the fishes on the children's cape he wears, or get him to look in the mirror.

I always do Nathans myself with the clippers. Usually number 3 but he has had a number 1 before. I just give him something to eat, sit him on my knee in front of his favorate tv programme and he usually gives me at least 10 minutes where he sits still.

I usually do William's at home with the clippers because he sees his dad do his and wants it too. I do it on grade 6 which is long enough for him not to look like a thug. I took him to a hair dresser the first time though so that I could distract him whilst someone else cut his hair. It was a bit sad but not too traumatic.x

My son has alot of hair i can definitely see it needing a trim by the age of 1. im dreading it since hes not cuddly and hates it when i try wipe his face, look in his mouth brush his hair etc so i dont ever no how im guna cut his hair! hes guna have to have a skin head!

how do they do it in the hair dressers? the one near me said they'll cut it from the age of 1 but i cant for the life of me think how he'll cut it straight!

I took Ky when he was about 18 months old (There was no-way i'd have done it, i'd have butchered him lol!)...I wanted it done sooner but OH wouldn't let me, he was the one with the attachment issues to his hair!
-He really surprised me how good he was, he just sat their staring at himself in the mirror, he was quite fascinated!
I was glad I took him, wished I had took him sooner as it looked sooo much better....Even OH had to agree it looked better!

I had to trim Jacob's fringe at 6 months! He was born with a huge mass of hair which is growing fast. Its already forming a tail at the back of his neck! Its getting curlier as its getting longer and it looks cute IMO so I'm keeping it long for now...but as I mentioned, the fringe needed cutting. I just snipped a bit off when he was sleeping.

I'll take him to my hairdressers tho once he starts to get mistaken for a girl! The look Id like for Jacob is inspired by Urchin's boys...whenever I see her signature showing her sons with their gorgeous hairstyles I think to myself..I want Jacob's to be like that!!

I noticed on the table of one of the local Sure Start centres that there was a leaflet advertising a hairdresser who specialised in cutting childrens hair. Thought that was a good idea. Maybe your HV could recommend someone like that if you're nervous to cut it yourself.

He'll never have his hair cut :shakehead:

lol I don't know, I'd probably take him to the hairdressers but I would be sad maybe get him and daddy in at the same time, though i hate it when daddy gets his hair cut too :(
