I'm currently trying to serve an eviction notice on one of my lungs, both of which are being rather stubborn... and it's resulting in me upsetting... Miss "I-currently-own-your-body-so-stop-waking-me-up-or-I-will-beat-you-up-from-the-inside" :rotfl: ... She's being rather difficult about the whole thing... :rotfl:

So I've tried many natural remedies (herbal teas, normal tea, hot blackcurrant, hot lemon with honey, steam, ice cream, cold water, salt nd vinegar crisps) all of which giving a few moments relief only to be followed with the eviction taking place again... Is there any thing else I can take? That lemsip is looking rather inviting  But you can't take that right?... I have an appointment with my doctor (on Friday made last Friday  ) for other reasons... but I doubt she'll help cos she's a miserable old bat :rotfl: ...

Can I take lemsips at this stage in my pregnancy ?

I know exactly how you feel Squig - this is my second bout in a matter of weeks! My chest is hurting so much now :(

Don't have any miracle remedies for you, so you'll have to have these instead

Hi Squig,

I went to the doctors 3 weeks ago as id picked up some "bug" and was coughing every 5 mins! My doctor told me that becuase im pregnant i was very limited to what i can take. Basically all i was allowed was paracetamol, she said cough medicine was out of the question and so was lemsip, night & day e.t.c e.t.c

sorry hun, if your doctor says anything diffeewnt let me know so i can go back & deck mine! ive been suffering for over 3 weeks now.

T xx

I find doctors weird, they all have different opinions. I had a cold and sore throat not long back and when I went to see the doctor he said I COULD take lemsip drinks. I stuck to honey and lemon hot drinks, as my dad is a pharmacist and told me not to take it. He said the normal lemsip which just contains paracetamol is ok because we know paracetamol is safe, but the cold and flu variety have an ingredient called phenylephrine which isn't dangerous in pregnancy, it just hasn't been tested in pregnant women, which is mainly the reason why they say to avoid it. If I was naive I would have just probably bought cold and flu lemsip after seeing the doc.

I just have an industrial size loo roll with me at all times at the moment. My head is going to explode with the volume of snot it is currently producing :(
