Been reading all the forums this morning and lots of girlies on tri 1 are having their 12 week scan soon or have their date for it!

Well as some of you may know I didnt find out I was 14 weeks pregnant til Friday (just gone) so ive missed my 12 week scan....what will happen about this? Will they do it late? Or just miss it out? The hospital didnt say when I went for my scan on Friday to check everything was ok as I was having pains on one side

If I were you, I'd ring up my doctor's surgery / speak to your midwife and ask if you can have one- i'm sure they'll arrange one for you. If you don't ask, you don't get!

When I was 38 weeks pregnany I went back home to ireland as my mum was very ill and when I went for a checkup, I asked if I could have a scan and I got one!

Congratulations to you! Was it a shock to you? Had you been ttc?

You should still get a scan. It's referred to as the '12 week' scan as this is when it's usually done, but the 'proper' term for it is the dating scan, as the purpose of it is to date the pregnancy and check how many are in there! In my NHS trust area, they are done anywhere between 10 and 17 weeks depending on availabilty.

Speak to your MW or GP - he/she may have already referred you for one

Yeah I agree, id get in touch with your midwife asap and see what the situation is, and get yourself booked in. Good luck!

But surely if you've had a scan, when you found out you were further gone than you thought, that serves the same purpose as the 12 week scan? It doesn't have to be specially arranged for the purpose of dating, just as long as the dating gets done... apologies if I'm missing something...

I did wonder why nothing was mentioned about the 12 week scan that everyone else is having
